These are steel drums right??? I don't think you turn them like you can the cast iron drums. There isn't enough meat in them to cut out.

Re: Shock Rebuilding

It can be done a lot cheaper doing it yourself than buying new ones. I have done it with success using the rebuild kits Snyders and Brattons offer. The hardest part is finding rebuildable ones and the even harder part is getting them open. It takes a lot of heat. You need to get them cherry red to g...

Re: radiator cap removal

Looks like the quail is missing. Look behind it under the hinge. There may be a set screw there that you need to loosen then twist it off. It should just a bayonet type cap as it looks like your truck is a 31 by the emblem.

Re: 28 AA front axle

Keep in mind the AA perch pins are different on the AA from the passenger car. the 28's had front shocks and the ball is up a little higher than on a car. Like others have said the axles are all the same as the car just bigger spindles drums and the perch pin issue I just typed about. The perch pins...

Re: '28/'29 Rescue

What kind of gas cap does it have??? Screw on or Bayonet style. If it's the bayonet style that is an early 30 and the wheels on it are correct.

Re: Building a shop in my back yard in Sacramento SIMPLE

Does he need it in Sacramento? How cold does it get there? I suspect he might want it for sound attenuation at least so he doesn't piss off the neighbors. Most of those kit companies supply the stuff in rolls. You really can't hang anything on the walls with out ripping the stuff. It's ususally a vy...

Re: 1931 front axle questions

Longer spring perches for the 31 are not available as far as I know. On my 28 I have them and yes they are a tad longer than the cars. Will 28 spring perches work in a 31 AA front axle??? I don't have the answer to that. Maybe someone else will chime in.
