The 28 is coming together.
Chatted with you several times over the past couple of years. I'm nearing the point I will drive it around the block for the first time. I'm still thinking of finding a manual crank dump or put the platform body back on. I have been very lucky with this truck it was in very good condition, no rust. ...

Tire size
I'm at the point I need to order tires for my E28, wire wheels with the car axle. The front tires were 500-20's orginally, I think. Will the 600-20's work on the front and rear. The fender clearance could be a problem. Does anyone have 600's on the front.. Thanks Charlie

Number on subframe & tires
While cleaning the subframe on my early 28 closed cab AA, clear as a bell stamped like under the steering column just in front of the seat riser is stamped TC-10-27. Is this the date the cab was assembled. Restoration is coming along, mechanical is complete, working on sheet metal. Back to tires, I ...

Re: Front motor mount??
I have an early 28 I'm restoring still with the solid front cross member (engine mounts to cross member, with the deep V. Most modern front supports won't work, they need the flat bottom cross member. The new Float-A-Motor front supports works perfect available at most parts suppliers good luck.

Re: Rear axle speed
Still plugging along with my E28,AA. I might have solved my low speed rearend problem, I was at a swap meet and noticed partial cab and frame over in a corner. It was the remains of a E28 AA fire truck. I took a chance and bought it, chances were they didn't want a slow speed and second it might not...

Re: 1928 aa truck parts
Mark, Looking for a B worm drive rearend, I'm restoring a early 28 with the low speed 7.25 gears. The B is on the rear of the housing on the left side. The one in my truck is in excellent condition except top speed would be about 30 MPH. Let know about yours, Thanks Charlie.

Re: Several MODEL AA TRUCKS and PARTS
Bruce, I am in the process of restoring an early 28 AA 82A stake body truck. The rearend has the low speed gears 7.25-1 with the A on the housing. Looking for the the 5.17-1 rearend with the B or the early bevel gear rearend that would take the spoke wheel. When done I would like to use it, but with...

Re: Rear axle speed

Re: Rear axle speed
NOT GIVING UP YET, I would like to know how many would like to drive their AA's at 40mph similar to an A's. Not 65 out on the interstate. I think the AA is worthy of being at meets like the A's.something is hold back restoration and I think its the slow speed of 30mph. Some where there must be a com...

Re: Rear axle speed
Great thread going here, I'm not looking for interstate speed, just maybe near 40 mph on a country back road without a piston putting a hole in the block. As Neil mentioned earlier the 7.25 gearing 30 mph would be top end. just a little slow even on a back road. As for as the brakes they were design...

Re: Rear axle speed
Hi group, Still at the speed thing, yes supping up the engine is an answer but you lose the original Model A. Does anyone know if the Model TT worm gears are the same. This thread has had some interest as mentioned before I would love to see more AA's restored and on the road but the slow speed with...

Re: Rear axle speed
Morning, Thanks for all the responses to date on vehicle speed. As I mentioned in the orignal post 40 mph is reasonable speed, 30 mph at fill rev is a little low even on a back road. I have spent more time reading and listening to other AA owners. One owner said he spent a lot of time and money rest...

Re: Rear axle speed
Drew, According to Neil top speed with the 7.25 ratio would be about 30 mph, with the hi-low shift in low 20 mph would be top speed. both at top engine rpm. Just to low for normal driving.
