Re: 1930 rear hubs

s147181: I was having a dickens of a time trying to unscrew the nuts on the U-bolts that hold the stakebed on an AA. A guy told me to get a torch and use it to heat the nuts until cherry red. He said to have a garden hose flowing and to be ready to immediately hit a cherry red nut with the water. I ...

Shelby:

Bummer about your computer! But.........A big, hardy "Welcome to California" from a California navtive!!! It's a great place to live. I've been in Ventura County my entire life. Enjoy Sacramento. Lots to do in that area.

Bob C:

That sounds quite feasable. Especially, since Henry liked to use stuff up.

Re: Rear leaf to shackle bolts

Stakebed: If you're truly going to use your AA as a work truck on a regular basis, then I'd install bolts that are the same hardness as the originals. Most AAers don't use their trucks as work trucks, and rarely haul heavy loads. Therefore, I can't imagine a bolt that's not quite a tough as the orin...

Re: California registration rule

ModelAkid & others: If the California DMV or other like state agencies want to see a VIN, do they really know where the VINs on AA's and A's are stamped? If not, why not just stamp the VIN on your vehicle somewhere that it can be easily accessed? That is, if an owner doesn't have a problem doing...

Re: AA on ebay

Curt:

I'm beginning to believe that the majority of AA lovers prefer the squarish 28/29 cab over the more roundish 30/31 cab. Do you suppose this could have played into your sale? I prefer the more roundish 30/31 cab. If I wanted a squarish cab, I would purchase a TT. Just a thought.

Stakebed:

If you're not planning on carrying a lot of weight, I imagine your method would work perfectly well. And, should it not work out, well......great topic for further discussion.

Go for it!

I sure hope some local AA enthusiast buys it. It would be great to see it tooling around Ventura County!

Good Luck with your sale,

I've never seen "TRUCK" on any AA part. That's way cool! Thanks for sharing.

That's what I thought they might be. I think raven finish would be the way to go, so as to not scuff up painted nuts and bolts like I've done. What's your spin?

Are the nuts and bolts in your photo painted black, or do they have some other finish on them?

If you have an AA truck that looks like a pickup, then you probably have and Express bed.
