Re: Front Cross Member
I took a look at the other frame and answered my own question. The front cross on the other had no wear areas at all. Rather than removing and reriveting the crossmember I decided to fill in the worn areas with MIG. Ground it down and sanded til my arm hurt. Looks good as new and only half a days wo...

I am getting ready to prep my wheels for paint and wondering if you all see anything wrong with my plan. I will demount all the tires, wash and store them up in the attic. Then inspect all the wheels and rim locks for damage then glass bead them and check again. Once I take care of any obyious dings...

Cleaning up a Aug. 1930 short wheel base frame and focusing on a couple minor cracks on the front cross member that need welding. Looking into the well where the front engine mount sits and it has what looks to be significant wear areas around where the spring seat plate for the engine mount would s...

Re: Removal of "AA" brake drum. HELP
This can be tough, but you can hope. It stands to reason that the brakes were set up to work when the truck was parked. That would mean the drum was free to turn before the shoes siezed up from sitting. Try to get the drum to rotate using a long bar on the studs for leverage. A little banging on the...

Re: Dump Truck
Nice Job of the truck John! I bet with the Mitchell wound up those mud flaps must be darn near horizontal!
Interesting way of installing the spare as well.
Do you have any shot of the drive line and mitchell installation?
Just curious as hell...............

Re: HEADLIGHT REFLECTORS
I replaced my Headlight reflectors with reproduction reflectors several years ago, big mistake. The replacement are made of metal which I do not like. The originals are made of copper. My originals were black in side. I gave them a baking soda bath for about 30 minutes. The first one I took polish ...

Re: AA Front Springs
The BB front springs will fit the 30/31 AA, and the champher lengthwise along the spring leaves is for grease dispersement. The springs in 1932 and up came with a center tie bolt nut that came with a grease fitting for lubricating the springs. The 1940 Springs came with zinc plated steel covers to ...

I am in the process of stripping two drive lines and cherry picking the best pieces for my running gear. Last weekends job was finallizing the front spring set. Re: Coke Hauler
I'd have to agree, both the frame bumpers were bent up like that and when asked the mechanic thought they were supposed to look like that. She probably hit a hell of a pot hole under full load at speed.

This might get the attention of Pepsi mecahanic! I had the opportunity to check out a long wheel base 31 and the local Coca Cola shop. Interesting beast, partially restored a dozen years ago, and currently trailered to events for promotional purposes. According to the man in charge, the poor girl ha...

Re: I need your Help
Johnnydid, its tough to say why your brakes are marginal, but safe to say something is worn beyond service limits. How much lining remains on the shoes? How much drum is left to push against? Can you give us some pictures of what the set up looks like? May be some over size linings installed or remo...
