Re: Fan clearence problem
I have ground off the weld on the crossmember-frame connection. I took the bolts out and going to replace them with rivets. I found that the crossmember was badly broken at the area where it connects to the frame. I welded it back together and now just waiting for the rivets. I used a piece of old b...

Re: Fan clearence problem
Here are some pictures showing the front engine mount; and the space between the top of the frame rail and top of the crossmember. The washer used on the center mount bolt is leather and not felt as I stated earlier, sorry about that. Thanks to Bob C for the link about the spring length. Turns out t...

Re: Fan clearence problem
We got rained out at work today so I'm going to work on my truck. Would anyone like to share the procedure of installing crossmember rivets? Is there a special tool? Does the rivet need to be red hot? I'm up to the task I just need a little guidance. Thanks Also I've noticed that the felt washer use...

Re: Fan clearence problem
Russ, the mount looks brand new to me. I'll do some digging and see if the old mount is still around and check for measurements. The weld does concern me so that will be removed and rivits put in place. Also what Bob said about the top of the crossmember being flush with the frame mine is about 3/8&...

Re: Fan clearence problem
Bob, the hand crank tilts upward slightly when its engaged causing it not to mesh well. Either the front of the engine needs to tilt down or the crossmember needs to be raised is what it seems like. Tom, its hard to see in the pictures but along with the bolts on the crossmember it has also been wel...

Re: Fan clearence problem
The crank does fit but I really have to push forward hard while cranking or else it will slip out.

Re: Fan clearence problem
Today I made two shims that are 3/8" thick along with bolts 3/8" longer and installed them. The fan now clears the radiator hose. Here are some more pictures of the front crossmember and motor mount. Does the motor mount look installed correctly? Anything else look wrong or right? I didn't...

Re: Fan clearence problem
It is a 29 platform. This fan problem may be one reason my father abandoned it. I have also noticed he changed out the front axel to a car one. I'm having problems hooking up the brake rods, they seem to be too long. I don't have the cowl on so I don't know how it will line up. I have a different st...

Fan clearence problem
I mocked up my radiator and found out the fan hits the upper radiator hose. Anyone have a solution? I didn't take the truck apart so I'm a little confused. Thanks, Edgy

Re: Some 29 AA pics
Thanks for the info Neil. I would trade or sell any parts that are not for the 29 AA. I'll shoot more photos of other parts and put them on the "buy sell" forum. Hopefully by this weekend. Thanks, Edgy

Some 29 AA pics
I drug out some of the larger parts today. I've got some head scratching to do. I'm thinking the original cab has found a different home, could I use one of the ones pictured? Also could anyone identify the axel and box? I hope this isn't a lost cause for sentimental reasons but without the cab its ...

New guy on your block
Hello to everyone! I plan to finish a restoration of a truck my "late" father started many years ago. My dad bought this truck in 1975 for $50.00. The pictures he took of it says it's a 1929 AA. Everything but the body has already been restored. I've found most of the body parts scattered ...
