Re: My new truck

On our 1931 1 1/2 ton AA, the largerst that I would dare put on the front axle is 6.00 X 20. You need your front fender clearance.

Re: AA worth saving from scrap man?

Rare truck in that: How often do you see a right hand spare tire mount in the 30-31 AA truck? I don't think that I have ever seen a right hand mount like this truck has, and I have seen a lot of trucks.

Re: stake "connectors?"

Using an original stake connector plate as a pettern, I made the rest of the ones that I was missing. They came out perfect and my costs were next to nothing.

Re: 82-B Closed Cab - Steel Top Pictures?

Seeing the two top bows on the Ford Barn posting really helps. Thank you very much. Now, only one question still remains, "was there ever anything covering those two original steel top bows? Cardboard headliner or ?"

Re: 82-B Closed Cab - Steel Top Pictures?

What doe the steel top use for a headliner? Are there any interior wood cross bows like the vinyl top would have? Presently my steel top doesn't have any wood bows or headliner.

Re: carb. kit....

If you buy one of those import Zenith carb rebuild kits, try to not use their new jets. Most of the kits I have found come with incorrect jet sizes. Reuse your old jets if possible.

Re: windshield

From my over 50 years experience with the Model A Ford, from 1929 thru 1931, Fords did come with a laminated glass windshield and plate glass for the rest of the windows. From the University of Auto Glass: "Laminated glass: The first generation of laminated glass was two panes of annealed glass...

Also for a weld back up I use a carbon block. A brass plate will also work as well as an aluminum plate will too.

Re: AA Radiator

Dear Farrell, I have dealt with many old radiators. The last thing that I would do would to be to blast the old radiator with any type of air driven abrasive. The copper is thin, brittle, and about to leak as it is. In my mind, A good going over with any type of abrasive blaster is just inviting tro...

Re: Fire Truck Start Success!

An engine with new rings will overheat until the engine gets its rings worn in after about 100 miles. If not a dirty radiator, my next guess for an overheating Model A problem may be due to a tight engine.

I always have been successful at using a sharp cold chisel and a small hammer. Catch the Zerk fittings on the side and rolling them out, just like popping a weed out of the garden, roots and all.

Re: Deal or no deal to buy 1928 AA for parts

Buy it. With the title, sheet metal and other good parts that you will be using, $3,500 is cheap. And like you said, you can part out what is left to the guys that have the cash for the parts. And then you could also try to bargain with him for a lower price too.

Re: Rare AA?

Maybe the truck on eBay it is rare because it doesn't have a title? The truck's add states: It is new... "A vehicle is considered new if it is purchased directly from a new car franchise dealer and has not yet been registered and issued a title." Nice to see it listed as I own a metal roof...

Chris, Your AA roadster pick up is very sexy and very desirable to anyone who appreciates the AA trucks. In time, the burned out AA could look almost as nice. :D
