Re: 28 Express

Fred, It may be a little rough around the edges, but it is a genuine AA express. And that's what you'll have in the end, not a "made up" one using scavenged parts and a TT box. Congrats on going after it. As many of us know, if there is such a thing as an AA that has any potential return o...

Re: 4-speed floor plate

Just had a look through my junk, thought I had one, but can't seem to find it. Any other parts you need? I have some spare wheels, a rad, a transmission with pto, front bumper, and some other stuff. I will have another look for the plate tomorrow.

You may have seen Harry B driving it around Ladysmith. He doesn't have enough cars so I gave him one of mine

The old AA went to heaven today.

Today I helped the fellow who bought my truck get it through the front window of his liquor store. It was a real tight squeeze, backed it through the window on a rollback truck then put the rear tires on dollys. It had to go over a brick wall about 20" high where the bottom sill of the (removed...

The McMillan green book which is a collection of reprints of era documents, states the maximum load with dual wheels at 2 1/4 tons. p69.

Re: 1931 AA Stake 157wb

I actually took it out of western Washington where it had been since new. I think I will keep the original 1931 Everett Wa plate that came with it, maybe pass it on to a fellow AAer from Washington. The guy was really excited to see my collection of Lucky Lager posters which feature logging scenes f...

Re: 1931 AA Stake 157wb

Just an update for those who like to watch selling prices. I just sold the truck for $6500. Kind of hard to let it go, but I just can't look after all of them, and it has been doing alot more sitting than using. The buyer is going to use it for a merchandise display inside his liquor store in Mill B...

Oh, I know it well. I'm not ashamed to say a few things have made it out in a lunch box, but never a mobile home!

Re: Building a shed for the truck

Sorry to leave you guys hanging. I work really slow, and the shed is still a long way from how I envision it, but it is coming along I suppose, as I continue to scrounge for bits and pieces. So far I am into it for less than $5000. The concrete for the foundation was $800, the used metal roofing was...

Re: I have lift off!

That sure is a beautiful truck. Very nice, but not too nice to put to work. I think it is the dream of many an AAer to have a hoist of some kind under the body. To have a proper Wood unit is icing on the cake.

Re: Welding Sheet metal and body panels!

You can also just grab a piece of 1/2" copper pipe and hammer one end flat, then you can bend it sort of like a flat spoon, you just stick it up behind whatever hole you need blocking behind. I usually use a piece about 2 feet long, takes a long time for the heat to radiate up to the "hand...

Re: 1931 AA Stake 157wb

We got Waylon "free to a good home". (Henry is our senior hound) Waylon gets car sick, so he travels best in the back of a truck that can be hosed down. One of his talents is that he watches through the glass of the woodstove and will bark when the flames die down and needs more wood.
