Re: AA Headlight conduits
Pretty sure that later AA's had headlight conduits like a wire loom with heavy coated woven fabric material; not metal. My original '31 AA has them. The Judging Standards say "Observe the condition, end ferrules, size and finish on metal conduits encasing wiring to the headlights and horn. The...

1930 AA - Former Beer Delivery Truck
Not mine but I found it on Craigs List in Phoenix. Interesting possibilities as a former beer delivery truck. I like the advertising panel just behind the cab - great patina! I have copied the wording of the ad and a photo in case Craigslist takes down the ad. Fred http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/...

That's a great Story Thank You. What Movies? Love to look for him! I can name them but unless you have been in a movie yourself you'd probably be disappointed - as many of you know who have provided vehicles to the movie industry or worked as extras, it's not always glamorous. Anytime one of my Mod...

Henry, 1931 Steeltop Stakebed - 40,000 original miles
I was posting a reply to a question someone asked me on the Ford Barn about my AA and thought I'd share a couple of photos of my late '31 Steeltop Stakebed (indented firewall) here on the AA forum. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640x480q90/809/moviebartlettextras.jpg Someone had seen this photo a...

Re: 1930 AA157 NOS Front Cross Member For Sale
Hi Chris, yep, it's a '30 (Neil Wilson confirmed it for me); part no. AA-5017. The Service Bulletins have a page devoted to the changeover - see Figure 1081 on page 528.
As shown above it has already sold and is on its way to North Carolina.
Thanks,
Fred

1930 AA157 NOS Front Cross Member For Sale
SOLD 1930 AA157 NOS Front Cross Member. I bought this NOS Model AA front cross member many years ago at the Hershey Swap Meet and then discovered it was not the correct one for my '28 AA. It has the heavy duty reinforcing piece on the underside (see photos). Price is what I paid for it about 30 yea...

WANTED: Sidemount Carrier for early Express box
Want to find an original sidemount bracket for a '28-'29 Model AA Express bed. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/640x480q90/855/4iob.jpg It would have been riveted to the side of an Express box with a plate on the inside of the box for reinforcement. My original '28 Express box must have been sidesw...

Re: Steering
It depends on the year of your truck. The steering was the same for both regular Model A's and AA's and the 7-tooth steering assembly was used from introduction through March 1930; the 2-tooth sector first appeared in February 1929 and continued to the end of production. Either type is acceptable f...

Fred, I hope you have a high resolution copy of the photo you posted. Please email it to me. Neil: Unfortunately that's a photo of a photo - it was on a calendar I had several years ago. I took that photo using my iPhone. Don't think I can get a high resolution shot since it was already a printed p...

Re: 6 volt vs 12 volt system
Hi, I converted my '30 Model A to 12 volt several years ago and love how quickly it starts now - you impress everyone at the gas station when you touch the starter and the engine fires up instantly. Also I converted to halogen headlight bulbs (hidden behind the original lenses) and it's like drivin...

Peter:
Measure the wheelbase (where the tires touch the ground). Most Model AA's were 131-1/2 inches; some were 157 inches.
