Re: Had my wheels sandblasted and....

Whoever welds it, make sure they don't simply weld over the crack, that just makes you feel better because you can't see it. Its still there. To properly weld it, you should grind and bevel the edges of the crack to 45 degrees from each side, to form a section that looks like this "><". Yo...

Re: Would you use this wheel?

If your truck is a dually and you don't load it up, why not use it as an inside rear wheel until you find something better?

Seat Springs for tall guys

I'm gonna get me some real springs for my AA as I am tired of explaining my Honda Prelude rear seat to folks. I'm 6'4" and this seat is pretty low, but still pretty tight for me. Snyders sells a 2 inch lower seat and I was wondering if some of you tall guys could chime in on normal seat height ...

Re: Head gasket leak

You should also recheck torque after several hours of running as it will relax as the gasket sets and the joint completes several thermal cycles. The premium gasket (I'm assuming its the steel silicone composite one from Snyders) is not a copper gasket, and directions say explicitly not to use seala...

Re: King pin replacement

I replaced mine last year with a NOS set I found on ebay. I've heard the replacement/aftermarkets are not as good, but don't know that first hand. The NOS set was still in the box and was a not too hard to install. You do need a kingpin reamer, for which, I also found the NOS Ford part on ebay. Thos...

Re: Front Spindle Problem

Replacing is the best idea. These old castings are likely not very ductile and the act of bending hardens them making them prone to brittle fracture. Reversing a bend hardens them even more and it is possible that, even if you are successful, cracking may have occurred that you can not see with out ...

Re: Starting engine

If you have an aftermarket ignition switch from Snyder's (I like Snyder's a lot BTW, I just don't like the switch they sell), it may be faulty. Mine hade similar characteristics with times of good spark and times of no spark. I switched back to my original switch that needs a rebuild and all has bee...

Re: AA Radiator

Welcome! While we are on the topic, the AA radiators from Brattons, Mac's, Brassworks, Snyders... are they all the same manufacturer and these guys are simply distributors? I'm likely in the market for one and was wondering what the feedback was on the particular ones available. My truck, unfortunat...

Re: New Facebook Group for Model AA Ford Truck Lovers

I think you'll find that if you need tried and true info, this site will suite you better. If you want to discuss busted knuckles, post pics of the day's wrenching, or socialize, FB will fill that niche. Its the difference beween going to the library or going to the coffee shop. I don't think either...

Looking for rear leaf spring early 1931 AA 157 Wheel Base CT

My DS rear lower leaf is snapped just at the collar to the rear axel. Will take just lower leaf or entire assembly depending on what you have for sale. Would even consider a full pair if in good shape. This is not a show vehicle, so fully capable is the only requirement. Email skirkup535@aol.com. I ...

Re: Old tires stuck on rims

Gotta agree with Hayslip. When I took mine off I was very carefule to only coax them out as much as they were willing to go without bending them. My ring ends were almost touching to 1/4" apart before and after. Hard to imagine how the above rings were reused with several inches of seperation. ...

Re: Old tires stuck on rims

I just did it on my 31. I used redneck bead breaking. Look it up on you tube. It worked great except I had to do it all the way around the tire instead of one clean break. Essentially you use the weight of the truck or other extremely heavy object that you can get a bottle jack under. Lay the wheel ...
