Re: wheel base

Ford shows a drawing date of May 7,1930 for the long wheel base frame and the Chicago Service Letter of June13, 1930 mention the long wheel base frame. Drawing date is not production date. In May of 30 they were still producing the Early 1930 model that carried over the 1929 sheet metal and was onl...

"The 1930 didn't have a rigid front mount either."

The long wheel base tapered frame had a solid front engine mount until December 1930.
The long wheelbase came out in '31.
The long wheelbase came out in 1930. It had a tapered frame and had a solid front crossmember.

Re: Motor Mount Spacer

I need to see a picture of what he is talking about. Chris, I can't find a photo of these small tubular spacers which keep the rear engine mount bolts nuts from compressing the rubber cushions. I found the A-chassis part number in a Steve Plucker document. The AA spacers were slightly longer due to...

Re: Motor Mount Spacer

The rear motor mount spacer is 19/32" long. What is the OD and ID? Is there any reason not to use a solid steel vs the original split steel spacer? THANKS jmcpherson, I don't find the information you requested (sorry). The ID will need to be large enough to allow the bolt to slide through (not...

Re: wheel base

A vehicle's wheelbase is the measurement from the center of the front wheels to the center of the rear wheels. Ford offered a 131 and 1/2 inch wheelbase for the full production period. Starting mid 1930, Ford offered a 157-in wheelbase. There was also a 112 inch wheelbase which was a stand drive cha...

Re: Grease Baffle on front

The top is the driver side and the bottom is the drinkers side. The drinkers side has never been replaced but the drivers side was and maybe they quit after that one. Confusing, I thought the driver/drinker side were one in the same. :( Parts price list Aug. 1, 1929 A-2060-B Front brake grease baff...

Re: Warford Install help

OK, I think I will go ahead with Warford install in my AA project. I believe it’s a 28-29 style but I think I have the correct u-joints to make it work along with the splined rear bracket for cross member. I have all new bearings but will need to have a new counter shaft made. My next hurdle will b...

Re: Door adjustments and painting sequence

I have my '31 82-B cab at the body shop for door restoration, glass installation, and then body filler and paint. The rusted out parts have been replaced. I read about how the doors are adjusted for fit after bolting on to the frame. As I read it, the hinges and doors are adjusted by bending/twisti...

Re: WANTED 30 - 31 Style AA Wheels and Rings

Stew, FYI – The stamped reinforcement bead wheel is part AA-1015-C d4 (1/31–12/32). So, you are looking for the AA-1015-C d1-d3 (1/30—4/31). The removable flange is AA-1099-A. Refer to https://aafords.com/aa-chassis/aa-1000-wheels/#wrf.

Studs – Front Bumper and Front Shield

My research shows that the front bumper/front shield studs were A-chassis parts A-17766 (rear stud) and A-17767 (front stud). And they were the RGJS design 3 (5/8" square at inside of frame). This is for AA's starting 6/30 for the conversion to the new "B' suffixed body types (82-B, 76-B, ...
