Re: Truck Platform Body Bed Questions

Hi Neil. That is really great information you put together. Very impressive and thorough. So you are correct I have a January 1931 truck and the 88A platform frame is from a 1929 AA. I have a question to clarify on the size of the wood sills from what is in the articles. The text states, "Floor Sid...

Re: How does this come apart?

I guess the coupler has to come off the shaft, but does it have a pin through it, or is it just stuck on? The flange/housing slide back and forth so it is ready to go. It was getting dark when I got it to this point so I didn't have a lot of time to examine it. Once the u-joint is removed, then the...

Re: Hood and side panels for AA vs pickup

I need to buy a hood for my '31 AA. Because the radiator shell for an AA is longer from front to back than the shell for a '31 pickup, do I still buy a standard pickup hood to fit between the cab/fuel tank/cowling and the AA radiator shell? For AA's, the hood used the A chassis hood. This included ...

Re: Truck Platform Body Bed Questions

Hi, I have a 1931 AA and I am working on the platform body style bed. I could use a little guidance please. 1. What are the dimensions of the wood sills that go on the frame? The wood on the existing looks to be not original. I came across this number, but my frame from the cab back is only about 8...

Worm Drive - Worm Thrust Bearing Lubrication?

For the worm drive axle, there was a rear axle housing cap (AA-4190) which had a fitting to allow lubrication of the worm thrust bearing (AA-4696). The cap's initial design had a pipe plug fitting as shown in the attached photo. It was the same as TT-1004. It was used to lubricate the worm thrust be...

can anyone tell me the shift pattern on my 28/29 Warford? It is a backwards h pattern and seems to be opposite of the model T Warfords.
I found this - it might help.

Re: Rear window glass

I'm in need of the rear window glass measurements for the '29 AA if anyone has them? The photo is from the May 1928 Service Bulletin. Note - I believe this is correct for the 82-A closed cab with high rear window. I suggest you make a pattern out of plywood and verify it works for the cab with the ...

Brought home a 1928 AA Express, from Eagle Creek, Or. Need the scale weight, for the state of Washington. Which publication? I can't locate it.
I found pages in a 1930 "Ford Truck Sales Manual" attached. This should help get close to the weight.

Re: Removal of rear brake camshaft bushing assembly

Thanks for the great photo Neil. Yes, it is the rear brake cam shaft that won't budge. And the cam is removed then? The bushing which the shaft turns in is brass and I don't think it is being reproduced. I suggest you use a driver which is slightly smaller than the shaft diameter along with a heavy...

Re: Removal of rear brake camshaft bushing assembly

I cannot get this assembly to rotate. I've soaked it in solvent. I've heated it and tried tapping it out but it won't budge. Any tips on removing it? So, there is a brake cam shaft bushing, rear brake cam shaft, and rear brake cam. There is no assembly? It looks like you have removed the rear brake...

Re: Help

The wheelbase is 131 1/2 and by the serial number on the engine,L315925 it was produced in 8/1928. That is a nice link in your signature. An original engine id would have an AA prefix. Consequently, the L315925 is just a restamped number and can not be used to determine anything as far as a date. T...
