Re: Paint color details: AA 4-speed transmission

The paint color for the Ford AA 4-speed, of course is mostly Ford green. The shifter tower cap is black, the PTO cover is black. What color should the fill and drain plugs be, green or black? What else is black on the transmission? (It’s all in primer now, and it will be painted, so my preference i...

i get that but it seems like it would be a massive pain, time, cost to do that.
My guess is that they ordered the frame painted via the Ford factory.

Re: Seat wood patterns

thanks Bob and Neil, The seat back and seat bottom had wood slats on the bottom inner perimeter when I bough the truck. Makes me wonder if the springs are for another vehicle. I see that the catalogs have different springs for the various Model A vehicles. Are there measurements specific for the pi...

I didn't think there was any wood in the seats.
That is correct - no wood for the seat or seat back springs.

Re: Warford 28/29

Does anyone know if the warford rear mount is the same as the one for the high/low? Can gear off high low be installed on warford trans rear? I have a chance to purchase one for 600 without rear mount. Just looking if I have a viable solution before spending the money. Part AA-4808 is the "Coupling...

Re: Early 28 Frame & Springs

Here are some photos. Your link does not show the differences between AA-5020 cross member and the AA-5020-B but this one looks the same as your drawings. That is, in my uneducated eye... Yes, that is the AA-5020 d1 front cross member. I send an email to Brian Jensen of Il and gave him a link to th...

Re: For sale AA 1416 side mount flange

Neil and others, My 31 does not have the passenger side fender with the well for the spare, but I have access to such a fender. But, if I mount a spare tire, using your side mount flange, would I have to also find a passenger door with the indent? I have seen this indented door pictured on the driv...

Re: For Sale 29 Short Wheel base frame

I'm looking for a front cross member with the solid engine mount...any chance this has it? FYI - There were two designs of front cross members with a solid engine support extensions. Refer to RGJS page E-23. Design 2 started in August 1928. Also, 82-A is the closed cab and 88-A is the platform - yo...

Re: Rear Fender Brackets

The rear fender braces on my full fender 1928 AA flatbed are missing. It looks like they were mounted to the rear frame rails in a three bolt pattern and extended to the outer bead of the fender. I presume these braces were cast iron. Does anyone have any spares that they are willing to sell? or kn...

Looking to buy a AA157 under platform wheel carrier for my 1928 82-A truck with 88-A platform. This version mounts completely to the underside of the platform.
FYI - You need an AA131 platform wheel carrier - not AA157. This might confuse some.

Re: 28 AA Front Spring Dimesions?

Would this crart also work for 30-31's ? I replaced some of mine with pasanger car rear leafs. Seams to work fine but now i can fine tune with help from your chart. My truck is a 29cab 1930 chassie. Actually your cab would be an 82-A and that is a 1927 through June 1930 cab. The 1930 -1931 front sp...

Re: 28 AA Front Spring Dimesions?

Thanks Neil, that is exactly the information that I need. I did not realize that the springs are slightly thinner in the centre. I will assemble the spring and re-check the measurements. I also read that it is good to grind a slight taper on the underside at the ends of each leaf so that they do no...

Re: 28 AA Front Spring Dimesions?

The attached drawings are based on Ford engineering drawings for the AA-5310, stock, 12 leaf front spring. The leaves are slightly thinner at the centers. So, only the outside edges of the leaves would make contact. I have seen early 1928 rear spring leaves with embossed Ford script in random locati...
