Nice one on RufusRanch.com. It's a 1930-1931 type and in good shape. Don't miss it.

Re: Body block rubber pad confusion
"Body blocks" are called "filler blocks" in Ford terminology. They have Ford part numbers. See Ford service Bulletins for August 1930 page 483 fig 959. This example is part A40081-AR which is replaced by A40081-B. if this message is a duplicate delete one of them. Best, Ed Hayslip

Re: Front license plate clamp orientation
In 1926 Ford offered bumpers for the first time. Unfortunately this made the front license plate obscured, so Ford redesigned the headlights to include a cross bar. The A13145 clips didn't fit very well, but did the job of holding the plate. This concept was carried over to the model A. A look at pa...

Under separate cover I'll send you the copy of the page quoting "enamel" for wood parts.

Re: 88-A Platform Bed Wood
I suggest the wood parts were painted enamel, not lacquer. See Indianapolis Service letter of 9-22-1930 page 5 listing enamel paints for wood parts of stake bodies and flat beds. I do agree everything was painted body color.

Re: Rear springs on 29 AA
I have seen a couple of "fixes" (1) Several top leaves are removed and a short block of white oak is used as a filler. (2) The ends of the top leaves are hacked off. This makes them filler only. Both of these ideas do not lower the rear of the truck. I like the first version best. If the t...

Re: Anthony gravity dump
I suggest the dump truck in the ad above is a 1928 with air brushed 1929 wheels (not very well done), Note the rear edge of the splash apron and the hood louvres. Hmm.

Re: What happens when a flat occurs
I once took a wheel snap ring tire and tube to a tire shop for mounting. They refused to mount it without a flap. OK, sell me a flap.' We can't sell you a flap because our flaps have an off centered valve hole and your tube has a valve stem in the middle of the tube." I suggested cutting a seco...

Re: Help identifying the vehicle
The driver's side wheel lugs are reverse threaded. ie loosen clockwise. The previous owner didn't get the memo and snapped off a stud on the left front wheel. At least you won't have to correct a previous restoration. Have fun/good luck. Ed

Re: 82-A cab underside paint
I suggest the bottom would NOT be a different color. Ford couldn't make these trucks fast enough. A two toned cab would slow down production. Masking might be required to separate a part of a truck nobody sees plus different color paint, paint gun, time etc. I'm open to other thoughts. Ed

Re: Paint colors
There is a 3rd 1928 commercial color. It is L'Anse Green dark. The 2nd ed of Model A Ford Paint & Finish Guide lists this color as a 1929 color. This is incorrect. A July 11, 1928 Fargo letter lists L'Anse Green dark. This is definitely a commercial color and is listed in the Indianapolis letter...
