Re: Steering column bracket
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner Neil, The bracket had been broken off flush with the edge of the gas tank and the steering column had been wired to the bolts along the upper dash to hold it up... Only the small flat part that was riveted to the gas tank remained. I'm not going for a perfect re...

Steering column bracket
I need some help as to just what I should do.... I'm rebuilding a '29 Model AA and the bracket that holds the steering column to the underside of the dash/gas tank is broken. Only the piece that is riveted to the gas tank is still there. Can I weld something to this piece to make a bracket? I haven'...

Re: Top Wood question
Thanks everyone for the ideas... I had forgotten that i had the Les Andrew books and found that article.... lots of help there. Doors shut okay but the cab isn't quite square when measuring in the x pattern... will need to figure out how to square it a little better. Always something to keep the bra...

Top Wood question
Hello all, I'm working on a '29 AA and ordered new top wood for the cab as there was none when I got this cab.... my question is do I have to modify the wood? It doesn't appear that it fits correctly without some cutting and refitting.... it's a AWD-1033 kit from Snyder's. I don't mind refitting and...

Numbers Question
Hi all, I've been a member for a couple of years but never got to starting on my old AA till this fall/winter. While working on the cab I found a number stamped into the center crossmember where the wood and metal floor pan meet. The number is TC10143, would this be a cab production number? It's dif...

Question on '29 AA Rear axle hubs
Hi All Looked thru quite a few old posts but not sure what I found is what I was looking for :) I am in need of the two inside seals on the rear brake hubs and one bearing, I haven't seen them in my Snyders catalog but could have missed them. Any help on numbers or such would be appreciated. Also.. ...

Starter Overhaul on '29 AA
Hi all, Started a rebuild on the starter today for the '28 AA. This starter has not been used in maybe 70 yrs. How does the bendix come off the armature shaft? Is it threaded on or just a push fit? The spring, tip and end bolts and shaft key came off just fine but the gear and threaded area the gear...

Re: To File or not to File?
Let me clarify a little here... I have the engine upside down on an engine stand so no weight is on the cap of the main.. so being a newby at Model A's I don't understand how the center line would be affected by taking out some clearance... On the tinfoil method... I have tried that and yes, I think...

To File or not to File?
I am working on a '29 Model A engine and the front and rear mains are fine and within tolerance of .0015 clearance. The center main is at .004 with plastigage..... Is it acceptable to file the cap on a model A... seems I recall my dad doing that. I queried it and find info on filing the Model T caps...
