Re: How to install a WARFORD in a 28 AA

how about going back to original and use a three speed? Both 3 and 4 speeds have a 1:1 hi speed ratio. So top speed will be the same. With the extra trany you should have enough gears to play with.. Will that solve your installation issues?.. Just some thoughts..

Re: WTB '31 steel top cab

I want to put on late 1931 steel top cab on the '31 I'm restoring. Can anyone lead me to one? If your not hung up on being 'original', have one built. My dad in law just put a flat top on cab. No one seems to notice. If you go to a body man they may be able to form something for you. just a thought...

Re: your opinion of mitchell overdrive

I have a "utili TT" over / under drive unit. Anyone have any experiences with one? Three position shift. Straight thru, 50% under drive, and overdrive. It was bolted onto the front end of a '30 style worm drive rear end. All straight cut gears in it. Any input is appreciated.

Re: Driveshaft bearing

So, a spacer to hold the bearing in the proper place at the least. A bushing. I guess a spacer which is splined for the drive shaft would work. It seems like a spacer is more work that finding the gear. Neil: As always , you correct. But I used to be a machinist so I always lean that way. Make one ...

Re: Driveshaft bearing

Thanks guys, looks like I need to find some parts but at least not the speedo parts. Hopefully, there will be a lot less banging with the roller bearing installed. FYI - It is quite obvious that the speedometer drive gear and speedometer drive gear retainer must be installed. If not installed, then...

Re: gas mileage AA

i have a 28 AA with 5:17 worm drive rear end. express body. any guesses on mileage. i seem to get between 8-10. my 31 A gets about 20 mpg but of course very light and totally different drive train. any comments? Sounds about right. I seem to be getting about the same with the low speed worm system....

Re: Driveshaft bearing

Lastly, am I correct in assuming the speedometer components are not critical for driveshaft operation?

Thanks for your help.
I am quite sure you do not need the speedometer components. Mine is not hooked up. All it dose is turn the flex shaft going to the speedometer.

Re: hyatt roller bearings. do they run hot?

the grease fittings are in the clamshell a few inches from the hyatts. seems weird to hope the grease would flow to these bearings. i suppose i could install a grease fitting closer. if i packed the drill bit with grease i think it would catch any filings and keep them out of the tube . any ideas? ...

Re: hyatt roller bearings. do they run hot?

I think they should not run hot. That is a sign of high friction. Double check if it is greased. Is grease getting to it? Was it packed when assembled? I know, too many questions. But it should not be hot. I have never notice my '28 getting hot. For what it is worth. Good luck. PS. you know the answ...

Broke my cable and don't know how long the '29 AA should be.
Vendors have the length and parts for you. Sniders lists them.
