Re: Flatbed Board Finish Options.
Oak is the wrong wood to use on a bed, unless it is sealed completely it will cup and warp in the weather over time. Many people seem to use oak for exposed use but it was never used for that purpose. Yellow pine, maple would be the better material.

'29 seat
So, I reupholstered my truck seat but it seem way too thick. What material and how thick was the original padding used on the '28-'29?

Re: Speedo cable
Rather than pull out the old casing, I ran a bailing wire from the instrument end to the end of the casing; 81" exactly. So it looks like the overall length of the "shaft" should be 82.2, as Bob stated. Doesn't look like any supplier has the shaft in the proper original length.

Re: Speedo cable
Yes, of course that would be the thing to do but a real hassle pulling the casing out of the truck and measuring it. I just thought someone would have the information I need without having to do that.

Re: Speedo cable
Now I am confused. I didn't want a new casing and can't find the other end of the cable, so I can't measure mine. My truck is late '29. I see various cable repair options but none have the keyed end I need. Ideas?

Re: Speedo drive gear help
Maybe I didn't understand what you're looking for. Are you referring to the gears on the driveshaft or something else? Anyway, I have the gear that fits onto the driveshaft and the driven gear that drives the speedo cable. You have to pull the rear end back to replace the driving gear. There's a ret...
