Re: AA Truck Wheels

I have four restored six hole disk wheels with lock rings from a 29 AA that I would sell for $100.00 each. I was planning on using them for my restoration until I came up with four spoke wheels. They have been sandblasted and painted with POR 15 then top coated with satin black POR 15 top coat. The ...

Re: Rear fenders

Hey Jeff, I was thinking the same thing on my 29 AA flatbed truck restoration. I ended up using the stainless steel from a modern conversion van spare tire cover. The radius was too tight, but I was able to stretch the flanges with a hammer and dolly to match the 20" tire radius. I made my own ...

Re: Flatbed Board Finish Options.

Yes it is not the correct wood to use, however this truck will probably never sit out in the rain or sun for extended periods of time for the rest of MY life anyhow. I am also getting a thrill out of using wood that was growing on the family farm just a few years ago. My plan is to seal the boards c...

Flatbed Board Finish Options.

Winter is coming to an end and so is my "29 AA Flatbed project. I have the rough sawn white oak boards from my brothers central Minnesota woods cut 4 years ago, ran through the saw mill, dried for a few years, and now planned and grooved for the bed strips. Finish sanding will happen this week,...

Re: 1929 fabric top

Would it make sense to get the sun visor fabric and cover my sheet metal visor to make it look correct? I have not seen the original frame style visor or a pattern to make one. If someone has a pattern, I would try to make one.
Thanks.

Re: 1929 fabric top

I just worked on my top covering last weekend. We finally had a hot sunny day. Very important to be where the sun can heat things up to get the fabric stretched properly without wrinkles at the corners. Kind of a stressful project, so allow for a whole day and take your time. My visor is sheet metal...

Looks good, what did you use for hub caps?

Bob
Believe it or not, I got the 28-29 car hubcaps to fit with a large rubber grommet in the wheel hole first, then bend a couple of the tabs out and they seem to fit quite well.

Every time I try to include pictures with a post, they are too big and they will not attach. I tried a zip file but that also did not work. Can someone tell me a simple way to do this?
Thanks.

My Project Almost There

RR.zip After another long cold Minnesota winter I rolled the AA outside to step back and look at my progress. It is a whole different perspective to get it outside and look at it from more than a few feet away. Cab wood and upholstery was made and installed this winter. As the sun heats things up t...

Re: gas tank boil seal price

I used a 1938 Farmall F-20 to clean my radiator because that was handy at the moment. I set the left wheel parking brake and jacked up the right side to be just clear of the ground. All remaining wheels were blocked. Then I bolted a plywood holding fixture to the right wheel and strapped a radiator ...

Re: Manual crank hoist

Pat, Thanks for the reply and picture. Your AA is looking nice. I am going to just paint my hoist black also. I am envious of the perfect fit you have. It is interesting to see the difference in the extra gear reduction at the handle end mine has for "heavy" loads. For normal light loads t...

Manual crank hoist

Hi guys, I just picked up a Little Giant manual crank hoist for my early 29 project. This will go nice with the three rear pocket stake bed that I have yet to restore. From the research I have done, it seems The hoist I bought is the heavier duty one. It will not quite fit between the cab and the fi...
