1928 Model AA spoke wheels.

I came across four model aa spoke wheels. They are in excellent shape and painted dark green. There is no noticable pitting in the wheels and no cracks. The rings are in excellent shape also but are just starting to show some rust. Two of the rims have goodyear 6.00x20 wheels with excellent tread an...

I need section of front cowl/windshield post.

I have a 28/29 style cab. The driver windshield post where the mirror normally hooks on is damaged. It looks like the mirror may have come loose and bounced around and pulled out the studs or bolts from the post. The only thing I have left is two fairly large holes in the post. I am looking for some...

Sand blasting

Are you using baby sand or actual blast media? I had the same problem when I tried to use a cheaper sand called baby sand. You should be using a masonary product called flint shot or something like that. I use an 1/8 inch nozzle and have no trouble. Remember if you use a very small nozzle you will c...

Ready to tackle the breaks

I am ready to work on my breaks. What special tools will I need to go thru the breaks on an early 1930 model aa. Currently the wheels are still on and have not been removed by me. All the levers seam to move and nothing is frozen or rusted in place.

Dull Zink Finish as compared to Cadmium

I talked to at metal refinisher that told me that most companies are getting away from cadmium plating. He stated that he could do a dull zink finish that you could not tell the difference from cadmium. He stated that it is rated for 200 hours in a salt spray. The cadmium finish as a comparison is r...

Pressure plate/clutch

I had my Flywheel turned but only the clutch surface. The shop did not turn the area where the pressure plate bolts. I have a brand new clutch and had the pressure plate completely rebuilt. When I put it all together the throw out bearing has to travel about 2 inches to contact the fingers on the pr...

The model a clutch is a 9.0 inch clutch and the model aa is a 10 inch clutch. The A will work but the correct clutch is slightly larger. My original that came out of my truck had no center springs. I had this completely religned by a clutch shop. Once this was complete I was able to find a new old s...

Sandblasting cab, doors, fenders

I have a 100% pressure blaster. I plan on using plain silica sand. I have recieved various opinions on this. Some say dont do it. Some say the model a panels are thick enough, just keep your pressure down, dont concentrate on one area and shoot on a angle. I am really concerned about ruining my pane...

AA Transmission CRACK!!!

I removed the transmission yesterday and found a hairline crack about half way around the case in the rear. The crack is located about 1 inch from the rear and goes from the center of the side around the bottom and half way up the other side. I was able to remove all the gears. They all seem to be i...

Easy out removed.

The welder called me and was able to remove the easy out but could not remove the stud because I had drilled it down in the block about 3/8 of an inch. It is not at the machine shop - hope this works.

Broken head stud.

I was able to remove all the old head studs but broke a second one off. I drilled and tapped out the first hole and it came out perfect. The second broken stud did not go so easy. I drilled it with a small drill. When the drill bit broke thru the bottom of the stud it hit the bottom of the hole and ...

Broken Head Stud.

I pulled the engine from my 1930 model aa stake truck. I removed the head and the pan to check the bore and the bearings. The bearings all plastic gauged at .002, mains and rods. There was no ridge in the cylinder and the bores looked perfect. This engine has sat in this truck for 50 years outside i...
