1930 AA Dually Barrel Cargo/Food Truck
0512151114.jpg Unique 3rd party coach build. Mid 1930, among the last of the 29 body trucks that were produced through June of 1930. Re: Flathead V8 Installation
Ok, that is of some help. Perhaps the seller has misidentified the year, but it is a flathead engine. I'm not planning to take a long trip or go highway speed, My intent is to just stay around town with it, go to local meets, etc. I just like the look and sound of the flathead V8, and really don't w...

Re: Flathead V8 Installation
I haven't acquired the engine yet, but after looking over the truck and at flathead V8 photos online, it appears to be a fairly straightforward job with everything I already have onhamd.... considering the fact that the driveshaft has previously been cut and extended with a segment of iron pipe (thr...

Re: Flathead V8 Installation
Would that be a definite maybe, or is it purely hypothetical?

Flathead V8 Installation
After attending to other things, I'm finally finding time for my AAs !!!!! Just exploring the feasibility/practicality of stuffing a Flathead V8 from a '55 Sedan in a '28 AA flatbed with a worm gear drive rear end. It is well within my skillset to modify or fabricate cross members, linkages, fuel li...

Re: Worm Gear Drive Towing
Kingpins are a bit sloppy, so I rented a tow dolly to keep it stable. All went well. Thanks!

Worm Gear Drive Towing
Using a tow bar, to go a distance of about ten miles at around 25 mph. Is this advisable, or not?

Spare Tire Location
It's really tempting to put side mount spares on my truck just because I like the look, but I'm at odds with myself to cut on it order to modify it. I'm trying to come up with a way to incorporate them into the flatbed so they'll look 'authentic'. Since I have to refit the bed to the truck, modifyin...

I greatly appreciate that bit information and will be sure to include the correction in my dialogue when discussing the truck with the 'uninitiated'. Thanks!!!

Re: Putting Wire Spokes on the '28/'29
Those snap in plugs are a great idea! They could even be attached to a ford script badge so they wouldn't look out of place to the untrained eye, and they'd serve the practical purpose of keeping out dust and water until I find the elusive deal on proper caps. Thank you!!!

Re: Flatbed
"Just because it came off of a '28 doesn't mean it left the factory with it." Copy that! I've come up with some very convincing Frankensteins that give some old timers fits, but Henry was a frugal guy and these were just work trucks. My "29" is actually an early model '30 with a ...

just fitted up one side to get an idea of how it will look when finished. Always good to contemplate things over a beer or three!
