Re: Stake Rack Connections ("hooks") for rear center rack

Thank you Neil and Bob. I thought there might be reproduction latches available. One of these current commercial latches should be able to look close enough to original and were probably what was used back in 1990 when the stake racks were originally restored.

Stake Rack Connections ("hooks") for rear center rack

Neil (and fellow AA'ers), I need the center rear rack connector (hook) that joins the two rear racks together at the top (see black top center latch in picture below). My problem is that when restored the driver's side rear rack is the one with the center hook "on-top" so it is the one tha...

Re: Installing Shoulder Harness Seat Belts

Bob and KVO, Thanks. We all seem to agree that in order to add shoulder belts safely you need to add some sort of a re-enforced framework to the AA cab in order to support the anticipated loads. What is there in stock/original form is not sufficient. I am not willing to do that much modification to ...

Re: Door Straps and Hiding Front Turn Signal wires

Apple Truck, Thanks. I was confused, makes sense that it would be hidden along bottom of bracket.

Re: Door Straps and Hiding Front Turn Signal wires

Kim and Apple Truck, Thank you for the help! Just the options I was looking for.

Apple Truck, Do you think the tube could be tack welded to the bottom of the bumper bracket?

Cheers,
Carl

Re: Installing Shoulder Harness Seat Belts

Just doing lap belts. Shoulder belts too hard (and I guess no one has done them as no answers)...lap belts look bad enough... but since I am/plan to continue driving my truck as often and as far as possible, I guess they are needed...

Re: Door Straps and Hiding Front Turn Signal wires

Thanks Neil, I do have an 82-A closed cab. I have the black rubber door straps sold by the venders, I was just surprised that LB said that was correct for the truck. I see from you that the Restoration guide says otherwise. With a likely 1929 cab (based on mirror mounting location), a 1928 Engine, a...

Door Straps and Hiding Front Turn Signal wires

Hello AAers, Two questions about my "mongrel" 1928 Stake Bed AA: 1. It was missing the door straps from my repro LB interior. I have seen material for the straps in other AAs that match the brown LB brown interior but I am being told that LB recommends/says use the .."... black rubber...

Re: Long mirror arm

Neil, Thanks. I just wanted to make sure I had correctly understood that there were no original long side mirrors for a 1928 AA that could be copied. I think that over many posts to this forum that it is likely that, although I finally registered my AA as a 1928 model and the engine serial number sa...

Re: Long mirror arm

Neil. I agree that a mirror that is made should resemble an original mirror as much as possible. Please post a picture of the correct long length mirror for a 1928 AA.

Thanks, Carl

AAholic, Where did you have the new stake locking mechanism made? I was wondering if he had anymore or could make one for me. Might be cheaper than my guy starting from scratch...

Re: Long mirror arm - source

StakeBed, Enfield Auto Restorations has made two extended side mirrors for me. I have attached pictures (sorry for quality, but site kept saying picture too large...). They are now in for painting and I will sent Pix of final version, but he is willing to make others for anyone interested. He starte...

Re: Long mirror arm

Stakebed, I was at Hershey this weekend and there were two AA's with extended side mirrors and side mirrors on the passenger side. Unfortunately the owners were not at their trucks to tell me where they got them or if they had them made...

Re: Stake Bed Rails - Securing them in bed "pockets"

AAoholic, Thank you. Your pictures are great. I see from Neil's article that the center stake racks on each side are not locked (so they can be removed to load from side without having to remove 3-4 rear stake racks). I guess they are less likely to bounce out...? Your truck looks nice by the way . ...

Installing Shoulder Harness Seat Belts

I am getting seat belts in my 1928 AA and just read John's "Sad Story" about his accident and some member comments about how much lap belts alone would have helped (or not). I see the point re lap belts vs shoulder belts. I saw a 1931 AA at the RICONN Truck show on the CT - RI border and h...
