Re: high speed rear ends

Dave, for some reason this thread has been split, maybe to free up Bud's original thread. Anyway, go to the top or bottom of the thread and over on the right side you can select the thread number. My response is in Thread #2.

"How do we move this to the discussion forum?"
I think you could go to the link and request that they move it. memberlist.php?mode=contactadmin

Re: high speed rear ends

I think that the inner seal may be a carry over from the TT. Snyders shows one that may replace the felt one, may be call them
and get dimensions. https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/inner-seal-kit.
I think it would help if this thread was moved to the Discussion Forum.

Re: Flathead V8 Installation

From reading posts on the Ford Barn V8 site the 1948 and earlier V8's fit better than the 1949 and later flatheads.

Re: Front leaf spring

I just looked in the parts book and the 14 leaf spring is for the long wheel base chassis, 13 leaf is for the short.

Re: 29 four speed

Interesting, I don't think I have ever seen a bearing retainer like that. The u-joint is the one in the picture above
for the service replacement coupling shaft.

Mac's doesn't have a clue. "A" Springs has the one you need. http://www.a-springs.com/4b.html

Re: 29 four speed

If the u-joint looks like the one in the picture the transmission came out of a 1930-31 truck with a service replacement coupling shaft.
Can you post a picture of what you have?

The Paint & Finish Guide shows that is the only stripe color for gunmetal blue.

Re: Installing a 30-31 hood and radiator shell on a 28

Ford used the 82-A cab (1928-29 style) until June 1930. You have the heavy front axle with the big brakes, dual wheels and
probably a bevel gear rear axle and 4-speed transmission.

That's a early 1930 truck. I like the shell, is it steel or fiberglass?
