Re: Looking for some advice on AA trucks

Theres a 4 leaf clover growin on a hens tooth rear fender... I've always gone by the belief that those without dreams never have dreams come true. Reminds me of a sailboat I used to own...it was a legendary Moore 24, one of my favorite boats...a friend I used to race with kept telling me about a Mo...

Re: 1928 Vs 1929 Worm drive

Ive seen one for standard model A's and have heard nothing but good things about them and the company. I have no reason to doubt the AA version would be any different. Would be neat if they made one that permanently changed the ratio. With the dual high gearbox there is your low range - the high spe...

Re: 1928 Vs 1929 Worm drive

Make sure you roil level is still where it needs to be. And yes mismatched gears can make noises. The clamshells i refer to re the ones that go from spring to rear axle. No seals - should be greasy though. Clams are typically worn thru because of noone ever greases anything. Should have well defined...

Re: 1928 Vs 1929 Worm drive

Remove locking bolt and drive out slotted shaft - probably worn and bushing thats supposed to be in the leaf eye will come with it as they are typically very worn. Be sure the leaf eye didn't wear into the clamshell. Should slide out either way. Slot is there so you can rotate the pin to align the n...

number of skid strip bolts

I was wondering if someone knew how many skid strip bolts there are on an AA platform bed. I tried searching and came up with 140 or so of em. I have a lathe I can make modern carriage bolts look correct but need to know how many and what lengths - read there was 3 different lengths of em...

The radiator is going to be to tall with the 28 29 front crossmember.
Yes, you can put a 28/29 on a 30/31 but not the other way around. The 30/31 crossmember has lowered radiator mounting pads to make up for the height difference.

Re: Putting Wire Spokes on the '28/'29

Can someone with wire spoke wheels measure and post the diameter opening in the wheel for the hubcap? Curious as to what I can find to snap in there.

Re: AA spring perches WTB

Well what i did was braze the bushing to the worn out perch, ream round again and it will be good for many many years as long as you keep grease in it like its designed. As they were they were worn and junk as the shackle wore thru to the casting - might as well prolong them another lifetime.

Re: Assembly order?

My guess is when starting with a bare frame is warford or dual high, attach the U joint for the rear axle and attach that next so you can have a stable platform - also a way to move the driveshaft to align the trans to warford. Then engine trans combo last. Make sure you got all the u joint gaskets ...
