Re: Main Bearing Clearance
The person that Rebuilt the engine along with many others that I've talked to was against installing shims at the lineboring stage for reasons i'm unsure about as they would have made this process much easier and would have saved me from shaving the caps down resulting in oval holes for next time it...

Main Bearing Clearance
Hi There, my father and I had the A engine from our truck rebuilt and after approximately 1500 miles it developed a deep knock. I have since found that the rear main bearing had too much clearance (more than .006") i am in the process of shaving down the caps to try to get a bit more life out o...

Re: Warford Assembly
Nick C, Thank You very much, you've solved the last riddle I had with my Warford! The thrust washer you mention will be the exact cause of my confusion when setting up the end play etc. in my transmission. The unfortunate thing for me is I now have the Warford in my truck and running and am relying ...

Re: Warford Assembly
Hi There, Thanks for your info. I have put the Warford together with one gasket at each end and it appeared to be ok certainly not dragging and if anything had a little end float. Do you have any photos of the thrust washer you mentioned or any more detail as to where it goes? I dont believe I have ...

Dual High Running HOT
Hi There, I am about to embark on my first trip out of town in my recently restored AA and after 60 odd miles of shaking down and sorting out little teething issues with a new resto i have noticed that after a half decent run (20 miles or so) the dual high and the coupling behind it that attatches t...

Re: Warford auxiallry transmission
From memory while rebuilding and setting up the Timken Diff head (which weighs a ton!) I figured out it is a 6.8:1 ratio. I have also Acquired an Austin FGK60 crownwheel and pinion which I believe to be a relatively simple swap out and is roughly a 4.7:1 ratio. This may be a job for later on as at t...

Re: Warford auxiallry transmission
Hi Everyone, This is my first post on this site so please forgive me if i'm in the wrong place. I have recently completed the restoration of my 1928 AA or AAC as i have recently learned (it has the big timken rear end, exposed driveshaft and cable/pulley operated brakes.) and have found it to be a w...
