Re: AA Engine Serial #
Gotta lift the cab as the number is on top of the frame roughly just forward of the A pillar. Nothing real easy about that

Re: AA Engine Serial #
Trucks engines are suppose to start with AA. You appear to be lucky enough to possibly have the original engine. If you can check your frame serial number hopefully it's not worn away and you can prove you have a numbers matching truck. Good luck

Re: 1928 29 Sparton Horn Mount Bracket
In my opinion, there is no way that that is a Model A horn. That may be why it does not fit

Re: Spring Bushings
Freezing the new bushings for a few hours before installing helps them go into the spring ends a little easier. They shrink a little bit. Have fun

Re: Spring Bushings
All bushings are available. I think I got all mine from Mike's A Fordable. Mac's and Snyders probably have them too. Make sure you clean out all your grease zerks before reassembly. Good luck

Re: overheating
It SEEMS as if advancing the timing has worked. Driven it a few miles and no overheating although it is a little cooler today in the north woods. 70 degrees. Thanks for all the suggestions

Re: overheating
Had engine apart during rustoration process. Head was cracked and replaced with different one that I had magnafluxed. New head gasket of course. I visually inspected block and looked good. Oil is clean. Coolant is clean and does not smell. This truck last ran in 1954 before I got it running in 2017....

overheating
Having trouble with overheating. Starts to boil over in just 2 miles down the road. Installed a used reproduction radiator that seemed to be very clean. My father who has had Model A's all his life said "that's a 29 for you". Claims 29's have that problem. Would a 4 blade fan help? Any oth...

Re: Film footage of AA's
Great film. I never knew campers had push outs back then! Looks like these trucks could take quite a bit. Maybe I don't need to baby mine so much. FRANK J

Re: Truck progress photos
I too give Dave Alder credit for that wax tip. I'm doing a 29 barn find and that waxed patina is beautiful. I've also got 28 spokes on mine and what a pain that was. Two hours per wheel! I waxed the rust and what was left of any paint on the body and it all looks great! Good luck with yours. Should ...

Flatbed
Just picked up a flatbed that supposedly came off a 28 AA frame. There's no FORD or FORD TRUCKS embossed on the back which makes me wonder. Also are there supposed to be stake pockets on the front. Thanks, Frank J

Re: ammeter
Thanks for all the info and tips guys. I did have the generator rebuilt so tried the polarizing trick. Didn't change anything so that must have been good. Talked to Mike at Mike's Affordable and he basically told me he had the same problem with his Model A and had to switch the wires. He said he is ...

ammeter
Getting towards the end of my rustoration. Working on wiring. My ammeter is reading backwards. I know the simple answer is the wires are switched but I swear they're not. Looked at two different wiring diagrams, took a picture of the original wiring on the ammeter, and the new wiring wants to fall i...
