Re: Steak bed Rear Window See Through Grille ?

I saw this metal grille piece that sections in to the steak bed wood that blocks the rear window. Does anyone knows who carries this for sale? Not sure what the piece is called. Looked through Snyders, Macs, and CW Moss sites but did not find. I am putting a rear view mirror in since my steakbed wi...

Re: coolant Temp.

I put new rod bearings in, built and installed a fan shroud, set the timing with a timing light and changed water pump impeller. Took truck for drive today and water temp never went above 170.

Was the oil pick up tube in place on the rear main when you dropped the pan???
That tube is a drain tube as I understand it, but yes, it is welded in place!

How much clearance are you running on the bearings??

I don’t know, the engine was built by Antique Engine Rebuilding.

Re: Rod knockin'

Go back to the stock distributor set up and see if that helps. That way you will know if that is the problem. You don't want to be running it if it is so advanced it's causing it to knock. Engines don't like that. Well, turns out the rattle was not timing related, I thought it was because I could c...

Free to a good home

I have 6 tires that were put on my truck in 1954 brand new, the truck never left the spot after getting new tires. The nubs from the molds are still on them, but they have cracks on the sidewalls. They may be good for someone that just needs something to put on while they do a rebuild or maybe you j...

Re: Rod knockin'

I lucked out on this one, turns out my timing was too far advanced. Retarded the time, and the rattle stopped! Well, maybe spoke too soon, when I retarded the timing, the rattle or clatter sound went away. Now it is back at a different rpm and under load mostly, I’m running a Zipper centrifugal dis...

Re: Oil pressure

The Model A engine has a high flow oil pump with very low pressure. Higher pressure reading at start up with cold oil and pressure dropping off after the oil warms up is perfectly normal. An oil gauge in a Model A can make some worry when the pressure goes away. Thank you for responding, I was kind...

Oil pressure

My oil pressure when cold is around 4 lbs, then continues to drop off to nothing as it warms, is this normal. Running 10w 30 oil as per engine builder specs.Engin e also seems to get noisy.

Re: Coolant system question!

I had my A radiator Pressurized. I also installed a fan shroud. The temperature always stays mid range even when in the Fourth of July parade on a 100 degree day. My cooling system has been flushed and de-rusted with RUST911. Are you running the 2 blade fan also? I’m thinking my next step is a shro...

Re: Coolant system question!

Timing will not affect water being pushed out of the radiator. That said if your timing is too retarded it will cause it to overheat and then that will cause issues. If your set up caused the upper hose to split you are very lucky that the hose split and not your radiator. Model A radiators are not...

Re: Coolant system question!

If this is a stock Model A engine then you should not be using a pressurized cap. Even then a pressurized cap shouldn't cause pressure to build up as the overflow tube should prevent pressure from building up. If you fill your radiator to the top of the neck it will puke coolant out right away. Mod...
