Re: Wanted 14" brake shoes
Could be that they are all the same. They have a surface area that measures approximately 18-1/2" x 2-1/2". I have seem some that look like heavier forgings and others that are stamped fro lighter material. Mine are the lighter ones. I just need one shoe because the other three are in good...

Wanted 14" brake shoes
I need a pair of rear brake shoes for my '28 AA. These are shoes for the early model without the emergency brake. Condition of linings not important.

Wanted backing plate
I need a left rear backing plate for a 1928 Ford AA without emergency brake. Condition is not important as long as there is a 6" section along the outer rim that I can use to repair the damage on the bottom of my otherwise good plate.

oily rear brakes
Looks like I will need new hub seals for the '28 AA. See attached photo. The question is whether or not I will need to replace seals at the inner end of the axle. The other question is: does the outer axle bearing get lubricated from the oil in the differential or by periodic packing with grease? I ...

Re: rear fender braces
Thanks Neil. A pair of the forged steel braces came up on eBay a few months ago, but I did not bid high enough for them. The pictures that you sent are a great help. And you are quite right, the mounting holes are in the wood sills and not in the frame rails. My memory is not what it used to be. I t...

rear fender braces
The rear fender braces on my full fender 1928 AA flatbed are missing. It looks like they were mounted to the rear frame rails in a three bolt pattern and extended to the outer bead of the fender. I presume these braces were cast iron. Does anyone have any spares that they are willing to sell? or kno...

Re: 28 AA Front Spring Dimesions?
The overhauled spring with new shackles is now installed. My home made spring spreader worked well. The truck now sits right and has some decent suspension travel up front. It all looks good with fresh paint on axle, backing plates, drums, radius rod and wheels. Next job is to install the shock link...

Re: 28 AA Front Spring Dimesions?
Thanks Neil, that is exactly the information that I need. I did not realize that the springs are slightly thinner in the centre. I will assemble the spring and re-check the measurements. I also read that it is good to grind a slight taper on the underside at the ends of each leaf so that they do not...

I meant to say shackles where it says perches.

28 AA Front Spring Dimesions?
Does anyone know the factory dimensions for the AA front spring? Mine was very obviously sagged, with perches worn and lying flat on the axle and the wheels high up in the fenders. Also, there was virtually no movement in the front suspension. I was able to re-arch the main leaf to 30-5/8" cent...

more photos of the Ford AA in Roberts Creek
Here are three more photos. The front brakes have been overhauled and I will put it back together as soon as the front spring is sorted out. Next on the list is to pull the head and see why there is no compression in No. 3 cylinder. I am hoping it is just a stuck intake valve and not a crack in the ...
