The spoke wheels for 1931 were an option on the funeral cars and ambulances. They used different brake drums and they had a Lincoln bolt pattern. Good luck finding them. I have been looking for many years.

The Early 1930's were the ones with the '29 sheet metal on the 1930 frame. Note that the mounting location of the Early 1930's mirror was different than the '28/'29.

It was more than likely ordered as a cab and chassis they had the dump installed.
You truck was built in August 1930.

This appears to be a boom truck rather than a tow truck. The mast is way to far back to be used for towing. Lots of home made engineering on this one. Most likely done on the farm. Some good parts ond lots of scrap iron.

It is possible the plated shell came from the same car the front bumper came from.

I just noticed the headlamps and steering wheel. Is this a very early 1930 model?

Wow!,
What a beauty. Sure, go ahead and fix what needs fixin' but please don't restore it. A Model is only original once.
It is nice that the original paint can still be seen. Keep it oiled so it won't rust away.
I am curious about the plated radiator shell though.

Pulling the rear end can often be the easiest way. Leave the wheels on it. Jack up and secure the frame. Remove brake rod pins. Remove the cap that holds the rear end onto the spring. Remove all the hardware attaching the torque tube to the frame and roll the rear end back a bit. Remove floorboards....
