Re: Split Rim Tire Installers in the SF Bay Area

I just got off the phone with Rolling Stock Tires in San Francisco. They do install tires on split rims. https://www.google.com/search?q=truck+tires+san+francisco+california&sca_esv=ea279ec88aa32a6f&sca_upv=1&sxsrf=ADLYWIJH832ajIJp83zd4uJ8ae-6lvBOjA%3A1721421138529&source=hp&ei=U...

Re: Can 7 x 20 tires be used for duals on 1930 AA

When I had 700s on my Early 30 the tires hit the front brake rods when turning.

'30/31 rear end gears.

I know that Timken rear-end was used in a variety of vehicles. Were any fitted with gear sets higher than 5:14?

Re: wheel base

Ford shows a drawing date of May 7,1930 for the long wheel base frame and the Chicago Service Letter of June13, 1930 mention the long wheel base frame. Drawing date is not production date. In May of 30 they were still producing the Early 1930 model that carried over the 1929 sheet metal and was onl...

"The 1930 didn't have a rigid front mount either."

The long wheel base tapered frame had a solid front engine mount until December 1930.
The long wheelbase came out in '31.

The 1931 didn’t have a ridged front motor mount. I don’t think the axle was any different.
The 1930 didn't have a rigid front mount either.

Re: head

You will notice a power increase. Unless you got to some sort of Overdrive you aren't going to go much faster. Mitchell can supply you with a good one.

It is an Early 1930. They all have Banjo rear ends.
I think you are confusing bevel gear with banjo, two different rear axles.
I am not confused at all. As Neil said the Banjo style appeared in January 1930. The new 1930 cab didn't appear til June 1930.

Actually, 1/30 is when a new bevel gear type rear axle started.

January 1930 sounds like Early 1930 to me.
