AA Coupling Shaft Thrust Spring Replacement Available
For anyone interested - A replacement coupling shaft thrust spring replacement is now available. Unable to locate an acceptable replacement thrust spring for my AA truck restoration, an original spring was borrowed and provided to Burt's Model A Center, and they had several new ones made at a local ...

Re: Pictures of the Inside of a Bevel Gear Drive
The Michell replaces the torque tube / main drive shaft, similar to the Model A car installation. There are a number of articles and youtube videos that show the typical installation for cars. The cost appears to be about the same as the car (same internal gearing, you can get either 26% or 36% over...

Re: Pictures of the Inside of a Bevel Gear Drive
My truck has the 6.6, it was in reasonable shape when I pulled it apart, very little pitting and no chipped gears. The pinion race though had a big chip out of it and was cracked from one side to the other, so re-affirmed you really need to pull everything apart and inspect/replace as necessary (eve...

Re: Bevel Gear Rear End V-Bearing Question
Appreciate the input, don't see any reason there would be an issue with the (assumed) newer 22 roller bearing assembly paired with the original, so moving ahead with assembly. BTW, presetting the pinion assembly end play with the recommended "free rolling to 0.002 loose" and using the same...

Bevel Gear Rear End V-Bearing Question
Wondering if anyone has run into this before: I purchased a new V-Bearing for my bevel gear end from Snyders (they only had one in stock), so proceeded to assemble the rear end gears with one original bearing in good shape, and the new bearing from Snyders. However once assembled, I noticed a differ...

Re: Wanted: 1930-31 Wheels
'30 and '31 are different. What year do you want? I have them but shipping will kill you. Not trying to build a "points" truck, so was hoping to find any '30 or later wheels in good condition. But if you have the correct ones for my truck, that would be great. :D I'm restoring an early '3...

Re: 30/31 Ring Gear Question
Hi David, Depending on how authentic you want to keep your truck, another option could be a Mitchell overdrive (built new for A's & AA's). I have one on order, was hoping to have both higher speed rear end & the overdrive, getting to a top speed of 50+ when necessary. A fellow C-Cab owner ha...

30/31 Ring Gear Question
Hi all, In the process of restoring an early '30 C-Cab ice truck (bevel gear rear-end) I was planning on converting the original 6.6:1 ratio rear end to the high-speed 5.14:1 ring/pinion. Located & purchased a 5.14 ring and pinion assembly, but upon close inspection, the ring gear housing does n...

OK, Thanks Charlie - I'll give you a call this evening or tomorrow.
BTW, this truck spent most of its 2nd life in Soulsybyville (a few miles up the road from Sonora), as an orchard truck, not so far from Placerville.

Wanted: High Speed Ring/Pinion Gears for 1930 AA
New Member - Restoring 1930 C-Cab AA Ice Truck. Currently has the 6.6:1 ratio bevel gear rear end. It's in good shape, but would like to replace with higher speed 5.14:1 ratio pinion & ring gears if any available in good (usable w/o additional repair) condition. I'm located in Campbell CA (San J...
