Re: Hello, info needed
Just to give you a yardstick, we have an early '30 AA with the boxier cab and 5-hole wheels. Originally bought about 15yrs ago from a bank in central Iowa who got it in a farm foreclosure. Very good shape mechanically, somewhat better shape cosmetically than yours. We paid $6500 for it at the time.

Re: Newbie intro and dimensions question
I have an early '30 Stakebed and my garage is about the same dimesions. It fits, but I have to hold the garage door open a bit more when pulling in or out. We got our truck about 15 yrs ago for under $6K from a bank in Iowa that had foreclosed on it in a farm sale. They're out there, just be patient...

Somebody has done exactly this, he had it at the MARC meet in Williamsburg back in 2006 or so. Very nicely done.

Re: Some times we do more harm than Good- Sand blasting 2 ?"
Chris is right, you can drop the steering column (you probably don't want to try removing the wheel with the body in place) and remove the shift tower without too much trouble, but if you have enough folks to lift the body over the engine you can lift it over the column. Don't skimp on bodies for th...

Re: Some times we do more harm than Good- Sand blasting 2 ?"
Hardest part about lifting the body isn't clearing the engine and distributor, its clearing the steering column and wheel. Its still not that big a deal though - get yourself, 3 or 4 trusted friends, and heave-ho. Lift enough to get a couple stout boards underneath then use those for the main lift. ...

Re: Corner connectors
Brian is correct, there is a place outside Commerce City, Colorado that sells new connectors. They can be ground down to be absolutely correct, but the change is very slight. I have a complete set on my '30 AA Stake that I didn't modify and nobody has ever noticed. While I remember the location, I c...

Re: Gas tank valve leaking
While you've got the valve out, and an order in to Bratton's, get one of the in-tank filters that fit in the top of the valve. I just put one in my '30 AA which has a small amount of crud/rust in the tank. The filter sits maybe 3/8 above the bottom of the tank and adds one more level of protection b...

Re: Manifolds
I have them on a couple of my cars and have never had a problem with them. You might find that you'll like having it during the winter if you can find a scoop for it since you already have the fixture on the firewall.

Re: pin stripng - AA
Good point Neil. The name of Ford colors often isn't very informative - our '29 Roadster is "Bonnie Gray" and very similar to other Bonnie Gray cars we've seen, but its definately more green than gray. The straw pinstripe actually looks pretty good on the RMG cab, I think a gray would look...

Re: pin stripng - AA
My Rock Moss Green early '30 AA has a straw pinstripe applied as mentioned above (no pinstripe on the bottom of the door). I remember reading somewhere, though, that the color was to be French Gray.

Re: Pics of two 1929 AA's (190 Mb worth!)
I have a pair of Maremount helper springs on my early '30 AA, reportedly adds another ton to the capacity. Our truck originally came from Iowa and I was told the tankers had helper springs and they used them to haul water and kerosene out to the steam combines in the field. When they got too wore-ou...

Re: top speed
Top speed depends on which rear-end you have in the truck, the stock set of gears limits the speed quite a bit. We have an early '30 with the stock gears and practical top speed is 25-30, but it prefers to cruise at 22. I usually pull off in 2nd since 1st is geared so low unless I have a load onboar...

Re: Some 29 AA pics
Looks like you've got parts from several trucks there, including a T. The rusty chassis seems to have a later model bevel gear rear end. There's a T rear end in one picutre and the one labeled "Fenders" shows a couple A front fenders and what may be a T rear fender. The cowls seem to be 28...

Re: Car show in London Ontario --- we won a trophy
Beautiful truck. I thought you might find the attached picture of interest - its a 1928 AA I saw at the American Truck Historical Soc. meeting quite awhile ago, probably 20 years at this point. It has a bottlers body on it, but from Pepsi's arch rival Coca Cola. I had thought the yellow bodies were ...
