Re: 32 BB

I have a 32 BB with an A head on it, so it can be done. I also have several extra B heads ( marked with a "C" ) if you can't find what you need . Steve

Re: wheels: welding stock budd centers onto modern semi whee

I would definately not mix radials and bias ply tires on any old truck , period. If you decide to keep your bias ply tires on front, then I suggest you find a rim for the back that can also use a bias ply tire. I have no idea what is available , but in the past you could get 17", 18" 19.5&...

Re: wheels: welding stock budd centers onto modern semi whee

I have welded Ford/Budd centers into Chevrolet/Budd rims with good results. I have thought about putting Ford/Budd centers into modern 19.5" tubless rims, like those used on 550 series trucks or UPS vans. Depending on your skill level, it's not a bad job. The 19.5's are much wider than a 6.50 x...

Re: RUSTY WET LOOK

I would reccomend that you apply a mixture of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. This will cover nicely, dry good, and preserve your metal. it can easily be reapplied as needed. Try it on a shovel or someting first. This is great for tools, parts, table saws, you name it. Any metal or wood can ...

1929- 1/2 AA to be auctioned

The Antique Truck Club of America is having an auction to sell a 1929-1/2 AA stake bed truck. It looks pretty decent from the pictures. Check it out at: http://antiquetruckclub.org/ or google antique truck to find the ATCA home page. Steve

Re: new owner... with questions/want ads

This is just a hunch, but your engine may not be stuck at all. Perhaps the transmission is stuck in two gears, and with the clutch engaged, the engine won't turn. Try to turn the engine while a helper pushes in the clutch pedal ( or use a stick ) . Good luck, Steve

Re: AA Title in Pennsylvania

Steve, I have had good results by going through the court to get titles here in PA. It takes some time, but PennDOT will basicaly tell you what they want, and if you do it their way, they will not object to the Judge declaring you the owner. Then just send in a copy of your court order with an MV-41...

Those are tire irons. Used to remove the wheel, and to dismount the tire.

Re: New Bare Floor Wood, How do I preserve it?

I like to use boiled linseed oil on bare wood. Often the first coat needs to be cut with thinner or turpentine to allow it to soak in better. Linseed oil will seal and protect the wood, and will provide a good surface for your next coat, if you are using paint. If you want to leave the wood natural,...

Re: Drilling Frame Flanges

Tom, It looks as though you won't be hauling much of a load anyway, but if you should ever remove your fuel cell, you might want to weld those holes back up. I'm sure you have not done any harm to your truck. Steve

Re: Drilling Frame Flanges

Tom, It is always best to avoid drilling frame flanges if possible. Modern truck frame flanges are heat treated , but even older truck manuals discourage drilling flanges. There are many other ways to mount things with brackets, u bolts, and the like. Steve

Re: New Guy:

Hello New Guy, I have a 1932 BB dump that I use around the farm, and it is a lot of fun. The brakes never leak or loose air pressure, but they do provide some interesting moments when they just don't seem to want to slow me down. My brakes could use some attention, so don't be discouraged by my expe...

Re: 32 BB cab/firewall mounting, and VIN

TomH, My 32 BB has a 34 cab , and the firewall from the 34 was removed so the 32 could be used, so probably 32 to 34 were all removeable. The front cab mounts you mention seem to break often, and most that I have seen have been welded. My serial number begins with a 51, but does not have the AA befo...

Re: Mystery Part ID!

My guess is that you have an adapter that was part of a kit to make a tractor out of a model A. Your piece went on the end of the axle in place of the brake drum, and from there a chain drove a tractor type steel wheel, which mounted to a bolt on frame extension. As for value, I'd say it is worth ju...

Re: Trying to nail down the year of this truck

The vertical radiator shell looks 32, as does the cab, ( hard to be sure without seeing the extra belt line on the back ) but it also looks to have a full floating rear axle which is definately 34. Perhaps it is a bit of a mix ? Steve
