Thanks Bud I checked and the shaft is ok. I mounted an old flywheel to the engine with pressure plate and clutch and an old transmission. Bud Thanks for the info. I did not replace any xmission bell housing parts. With the old engine it worked fine.

When I drive my AA and go up a hill I get a very sharp backfire just as I down shift. Timing is on, float seems to be ok. When driving on level ground it runs fine no backfires. Any body got any hints.

I was just putting on a pressure plate and as I got it aligned about half of one of the heavy springs fell out. Kinda of ruined my day. Has anybody got any experience as to why one of these springs breaks. Do I need to do something to prevent it happening again??
