Dang.
I was just browsing the member list yesterday at who was still around since the inception
of this forum. You've been holding down #9 for nearly 12 years, and we've gotten kinda
used to ya.
No worries. We'll wait here patiently for ya to get back.
Have a spectacular holiday.

Re: '30-'31 front axle needed
A very generous offer Bud. After checking mapquest, I see a reroute to your place is several hundred miles shorter than my original route.
I gratefully accept your offer.
I'll pm you with my travel details and contact info.

Re: front axle i.d.
Thank you for that, Stakebed. Will do.
Towing from the axle is why I had to change out the first one. It had been done in pretty badly that way.
I'm surprised the radius rods and bell housings survive these assaults. Likely some don't.

Re: front axle i.d.
Excellent suggestion Brian. Unfortunately my spare kingpins are with the truck so I can't check it that way. I imagine there is an obvious dimension difference or two between the early and late axles that I can check quickly with a tape measure to be sure i'm picking up the right axle. I've just got...

front axle i.d.
Lil' help please. The '30-'31 axle was a heavier duty unit than the earlier years. What quick and dirty method of identifying a stripped '30-'31 axle can I use to make sure I purchase the right one. I'm eager to get access to all my books and green bible and judging standards and such but till then ...

'30-'31 front axle needed
Traveling from Georgia to Oregon next week and was hoping I could save some shipping cost by picking up a front axle on the way. I normally travel through the lower states when I make this trip along the Interstates 20, 10, and then up the 5 to Oregon. If you have a front axle for the '30-'31 AA tru...

Happy to be back.
Hey folks. Great to see so many familiar old names and great to see so many new names too. Career change and address change took several years to solidify, and I think it's near time to get back to work on the 82A. Will be digging it out of storage next week or two. Surely forgot most of what I'd le...

Re: Brake Drum
i've got a spare you're welcome to if you want to pick it up. I'm in simi valley. I'm sure it's (not) NOS smooth inside but few of them are till they get reworked.
Give me a shout if you want me to dig it out for ya.

Re: bevel rear end
Rather than take anything apart, maybe just count how many times you've got to rotate the driveshaft to get one full rotation of a rear wheel. That'll give ya yer ratio.

Re: split ring wheel retainer
The retainer does have some pin holes in it, you think I can still resuse it? Howdy Scott. I felt like this was a pretty important question to respond to with my 2¢ worth. I'd be pretty leary of using a split ring that had rust through. Seems like it would be a question of when it fails, not if it ...
