Portland Swap meet was good to me! Recent hip replacement caused mobility problems but David Adair found me a AA jack in great shape for $5.00! Also got my new tires from Coker. Next step is to get the old tires removed from the Budd rims and evaluate all the 11 rims I got with the truck. Need to pi...

Emergency brake cross shaft
Removed the emer. brake cross shaft. I think it has never been off the truck. Bolts/Nuts are rusted and need replaced. Is 9/16 x 1'' (castle nut and cotter pin) correct? Roy

Here is a picture of the front part (what you are missing on yours) of the drivers side top panel. Let me know if you want a picture of the new panels when they arrive. Roy

You are missing part of the front. I am going to take a picture of the one I am replacing. Hopefully I can post the picture and it will give you an idea of what is missing! Roy

Why Henry used rivets
Several old timers told me a properly applied rivet will cool, shrink and "cinch up" tighter than nut/bolt. Also the rivets were used on the frame and running boards because they will "flex" better than a nut/bolt. Roy

Anyone know Rosie the Riveter?
Cab is off and I'm working on the frame and platform. Looks like I'm gonna need to learn to rivet! I have added the Big River Rivets sight to my Favorites. Thought I would just use bolts & nuts but several old timers in my club explained why Henry used rivets. This will be a big challenge....any...

Re: the many rust solutions
Did you see the 1/2 pg picture in the Restorer last year of the red pu with all the American flags behind it? Had dinner with the owner tonight and ask him that very question. He is a retired Auto Shop teacher. Told me Por-15 with a brush first then when it gets tacky, follow with Chassis Coat Black...

Re: 31 AA Restoration continues
Used 2x4's and 3 of us lifted the cab on to the platform. I left the topwood above the doors to support top of cab. Its dry rotted so will remove at body shop just before priming. I was lucky in that my truck was in SoCal over 1/2 its life and Sacramento area the rest so didn't get subjected to extr...

Rust removal
