Distributor

Model A distributor, there is a collar on the shaft right below the housing. It looks like it has a pin through it to hold it on the shaft. How is it removed, I tried driving it through, couldn't move it. Anyone had this problem, or have an answer.

Re: frame paint removal

I used the wire brush, sander, sweat and mess way of doing mine. Worked good, but $200.00 sounds like the way to go.

Re: 1931 Removing front brake backing plates

I got the backing plate with removed with the brakes attached. Quite simple really, I just had a mental letdown first time around. Linings look good, drums look good. Just a lot of prepping, re-paint and move on.

1931 Removing front brake backing plates

I'm removing the front backing plates to do some clean up and paint. Do I have to remove brake linings and what is the procedure for removing the unit.

Re: Holes in Frame - which are correct?

Hi,
I have a long WB 31 and it has 9 5/8" holes on each side. I'm sure they were tooling holes for fabricating the frame. The holes you have in the same pattern ends right behind the last cross member. Don't know what to think about the other holes.

Re: Rear hub bearings

Thanks Jeff, I've tried before with about the same method Without your success, guess I'm going to have to make a sturdier extraction device and try again.

Re: Rear hub bearings

You mention finally pulling hubs and using a jack and heat. Did you determine what is holding the hub from coming off. Is it rust build-up, or is there a groove wore in the spindle, or whatever else. Also did you just keep applying pressure with the jack along with heat or did you eventually did you...

Re: Warford auxiallry transmission

Hi There, I have taken several of these apart. The shaft is very very tight so I had to press it out. They only go one way towards the strap that you take off the end of the shaft. The shaft is turned down on the other end which s smaller so it can only be pushed the one way. Any questions, email me...

Re: Roof wood radius

Google "front view 1928 AA FORD". You can get a pretty good idea. I don't think your going to find the radius.. just figure the rise in the center and fair it in.

Re: First startup and drive

I hear the noise, sounds like a wood chipper. It sounds like it is related to the speed you are moving. Have you tried jacking it off the ground in the rear and running it through the gears.

Re: First startup and drive

Nice to see you driving it, looked like you were having a ball. Everything looks good. Makes me think I should put mine together.
