Capacity Rating AA Truck
I was recently questioned about the capacity rating of my early 1929 AA truck (131.5" wb, single rear wheels, 3-speed trans, worm gear diff.). I had always thought that Ford's nominal load rating was 1-ton with the single rear wheels, and 1.5 ton for the dual rear wheels. Someone cited to me a ...

Re: wheels
I painted mine. I sandblasted the wheels and lock rings to make sure the grooves were very clean of rust and dirt. I painted the rims to look like cadmium plating. A thin layer of paint didnt seem to interfere with the ring locking in and seating well. Good luck.

Re: 1928 AA Hub Cap
Drew, My understanding from the MAFCA/MARC Judging Standard is that the lock rings, lug nuts, and hub caps should all be cadmium plated. When I competed for the AACA First Junior two years ago, there was some question about the chrome plated caps and nuts, so when I went back to compete for the AACA...

Re: 1928 AA Hub Cap
Well, if I did this correctly, the link below should take you to some photos of the cad-plated caps. There is one photo in there of the chrome caps and nuts I replaced. The photos show a certain grainy-ness in the foreground that is a function of lighting or the camera; the caps do not look grainy t...

Re: 1928 AA Hub Cap
Well, to answer your original question, I just had a set of four AA1130BR style caps replated with cadmium (not chrome) for $200 by a shop in Massachusetts called Nu-Chrome.

Re: Transportation
Quite a few transporters advertise in Hemmings Motor News. I have used one in the past with no problems. Some are large professional organizations, others are just guys with a pickup and a trailer. Either can work; you just need to understand up front whose insurance covers what. Good luck!

Re: No spark??
I agree with REM, and recommend the test he outlines. I had a problem once with a bad set of points. I was doing this exact test, and getting a voltage to the post of the points, but not to the end of the arm on the points. Would you believe that there was no continuity from the spring to the arm of...

Re: No spark??
Somebody said it above; and I agree. I think it may be in your key switch. Check to ensure that you are getting a closed circuit from the coil to the points (thru the ignition switch) when the key is in the on position.

Re: Spare Tires on Trucks
I am familiar with this type of carrier. I have sold one on this forum. It latches to the truck body on the back. But if the chassis were sold without a body; no place to latch, right? So did Ford sell the chassis without no carrier and no spare? That's my question.
