locating a flatbed (edit: located a flatbed)

I search the internet and always come up dry. What search terms do ya'll use to find flatbeds, stake beds, platform beds? I'm not going the original route so am not worried about getting the original bed but would like to find a flatbed that is similar in style, that I can polish up and put some new...

Re: U Joint

A bunch of guys seem to be having this problem lately, I know theres a couple of other threads on it. I have one for a four speed, I think is what someone told me. If anyone needs the one I posted on the other threads let me know.

Re: Frame restoration

I got ya, was just joking around. It's awesome that in some parts of the country these frames are readily available. I had to drive almost 600 miles to get mine, but it was worth it. And your right about them being pretty cheap, got my 157" dual wheeled for $400. Probably could have gotten it l...

Re: Frame restoration

auugghhh come on guys... If your not trying to build a show truck I say give it a go. Both my rear spring pivots are bent off the frame with coreesponding cracks in the frame. First I'm going to drill holes at the edges of the cracks so they don't keep running. Then I plan on cutting some 3/8 plate ...

Re: Tires again, budd wheels and tube vs tubless

Tube vs. tubless tire construction and application anyone?
Could I use a "tube" tire on a tubless rim. I know some guys do this for motorcyles, but they also aren't weighing in at a ton.

Re: 6 volt battery

what about battery chargers with desulphator modes. I have a "BatteryMinder" charger that claims to desulfate. It has brought back an old dead battery I had lying around, I don't know if the claim is true, but it brought back a battery that my other chargers wouldn't

Re: Tires again, budd wheels and tube vs tubless

Because my hub is so big, my center hole needs to be widened to 4.93 maaking the peice of metal my finger is touching only 0.338 inches. Thats what scares me.

Re: Tires again, budd wheels and tube vs tubless

Chris the ford 10.5 has a 4.93" hub diameter. I considered drilling out the original bolt pattern in the new rotor and widening the center hole on the rim to 4.93", but then I would literally have 0.112 inches between the lug nut and the hub (not enough space to fit a socket on the nut). P...

Re: The last part to break.

I have one from a 31, and since I got a free spring perch from Russ (Which reminds me that I need to get on paypal and pay him for the shipping) I'll "pay it forward."

Check with Neil or some of the other guys and see if they are compatible.
I'll shoot a pic later today.

Tires again, budd wheels and tube vs tubless

I've been trying to figure out my wheel situation. I'm putting a 10.5 ford fullfloating rearend under my chassis and its starting to look like a completely different truck (bad thing). I know that this is part of trying to "update" the old beast and sorry if I'm offending you but help woul...

Re: spring perch removal and axel problems

I was successful with the 12 ton press, heat from oxy acetylene, and water to immediately cool it down

piggy bank isn't big enough for 30 ton press, plus I'm saving for a compressor so I can do some blasting and painting

Re: spring perch removal and axel problems

Finally got it. I tried heating it up and cooling it down a few times with the oxy acetylene, but even that wouldn't budge it. I ended up having to use water to cool it down after I heated the axel. Only time will tell if metallurgic hell took its toll on the axel.

thanks for everyones help
