Re: rear leaf spring U bolts?

Ok this is what I got from doin some serious footwork and finding a truck spring shop. They were surprised when they saw what I needed but they did there best to bend me up a u bolt. The semiround end blew their minds. They ended up using a square bolt and putting it on a press and "bubbling&qu...

rear leaf spring U bolts?

Ok I'm having trouble finding a "good" hardware store in my area to get nuts and bolts of the correct diameter/length. I'm not looking to make this truck show quality, but I don't want to lose my rearend/spring pack when I hit a bump on the road either. I keep shearing these bolts and I kn...

Re: 31 front spring tie bolt, where to get one?

So I went to advanced auto and got a grade 8 hex head 3/8" bolt. There seems to be some play in it though, as in its slightly too small for the spring holes. I tried a 7/16" and it wouldn't fit. Should I go back and get the 7/16" and ream out the holes a bit? And then I think I might ...

31 front spring tie bolt, where to get one?

For the next 5 weeks I'm living in a different city for school, and the only reasonable AA parts I could bring were the springs. Cleaning up the front spring now. Problem: I cut the tie-bolt on the front leaf pack and can't find a new one in my catalogs. Does anyone sell them, or can I just go find ...

Re: platform bed/stakebed/flatbed advice about dismantling?

I didn't take it that way, it was just a failed attempt at being comical I guess. Every once in a while I like to give myself my own bashing. Steve (stautz) said he has about 4 rivets to take out before his whole bed is dismantled. I'm thinking this might be the best bet, as I may not have to shorte...

Re: platform bed/stakebed/flatbed advice about dismantling?

I think theres two parts to this equation 1 - You California guys have it good. 2 of the 4 beds I found last night are in California. One I think is a TT bed and another the same 48-52 bed as stautz has. 2 - I'm ignorant (not stupid  there is a difference) in where to look. I live in new orlea...

platform bed/stakebed/flatbed advice about dismantling?

I've been playing around with the idea of a platform bed for the rear of my future quad cab AA and started searching for one. I've found a couple that are pretty far away from me that are similar to the 6.5ft Ford Script bed from a 48-52 Ford pickup truck that stautz has on the back of his 31AA. htt...

Re: Bed Identification

Is it possible to build up a 187-A bed from scratch? Are metal parts available? If not what is the best way to add value to a AA truck? I would also like to know if there are any part suppliers for beds. All I have seen is the stake pockets and bed wood (dono't know if the bed wood was for the AA;s...

Re: FRAMES 'A MODELS AND AA MODELS'

it says graphite grease between leaves in how to restore you model A,

I've read elsewhere, slip plate/graphite paint between leaves and shoot rustoleum over it after its assembled if you want it to look a little prettier
