AA-4655 roller bearing

I found a NOS AA-4655 roller bearing. It’s a vintage after market bearing. It’s not made by Ford. Where does it go? (I think it’s the drive shaft roller bearing that runs on that strange race inside the torque tube) I am sure someone in the group knows exactly what it is. Thank you in advance.

Re: 1931 AA transmission has a BB-7222 tower ?

Thank you for your response.Yes, Many AA parts became BB parts in 1932. Do I really have a 1932 BB transmission with a leftover 1931 case, or do I have a 1931 AA transmission with a 1932 or later replacement Tower? Are the Tower shifter rails interchangeable? Are the bullets the same? (How many poin...

1931 AA transmission has a BB-7222 tower ?

I bought a AA 4 speed at Hershey this fall mostly because I wanted the tower with the threaded cap. My truck is a March 1930, but I have two AA-7222s with trunion pin holes that are broken into slots. Clearly, transmission tower trunion pins was not one of Ford's best ideas. The threaded cap is a su...

Re: What was the original Ford finish for the AA truck shifter rod?

Neil, Thank you again for your response. I have three AA truck shifters, one from March of 1930,(my original) one from 1931, and one from ? Two out of the three have this weird 3/8-24 threaded bushing 3/4" extension that I have been discussing. My theory is drivers thought the thumb lever for r...

I just read your post and realized it’s from 2008. Did you rebuild your 4 speed transmission? I have questions similar to yours from 2008

Re: What was the original Ford finish for the AA truck shifter rod?

Thank you for your response. My goal is to restore my AA to be a fully functional driver I still want it to look right,as a Ford product. The shifter on my 31 model A station wagon is bright, nickel I think. I have 3 rusty AA truck shifters, I can’t tell if they were once bright like the car or not....

Re: Build sheets

When you say, "build sheets", do you mean a written set of instructions as to how a AA Ford truck was assembled at the factory, including detailed sequence information, bill of materials, and cautionary guidance? I wish this information existed many times--It could be created as a routing ...

Re: sad jackshaft tube

My jackshaft tube was also in bad shape. I fabricated a new one from a straight section of exhaust tubing purchased at the local automotive store. I turned the ends down on a lathe to fit the bell. It is all fresh steel, but not perfect as Henry's original equipment--I am also keeping an eye out for...

Re: driveshaft question and pic

My AA drive shaft has that same wear mark. I considererd tig-welding the small groove and then blending the weld into the diameter of the shaft. I had some concerns about heat distortion from the welding--so I scratched my head and thought about trying to get the seal to rub a different point on the...
