Mike, The top rear of the cab definitely looks square to me. What should that tell me? I think I have to learn how to remove some rivets before I can get to that frame number. Any pointers for a novice on removing rivets? Thanks, Drew Hello Drew, you shouldn't need to drill out any rivets to lift t...

Oh, one other thing. If there are any Model A clubs in your area you should hook up with them. Most if not all of the members would probably jump at the chance to help you out. I just looked on the MAFCA (Model A Ford Club of America) and see there are two chapters in MN. http://www.mafca.com/chapte...

Hello Bob, Welcome to the forums. You may have a "stone" filter at the carb end of the fuel line. If the truck has been sitting for a while you may want to be sure the fuel line is clear to the carb float bowl. Since you have a 29' the valve is in the cab so turn it off before you remove the fitting...

Hi Dave,

I'm pretty sure the AA designation is due to the heavy duty frame, axle and 1.5 ton rating and not specific to the dual rear wheels.

Ambulances, delivery trucks and express (service trucks) among other models like that had single rear wheels.

AA Fords email list discontinued

Since there is virtually no traffic on the aa-fords email mailing list system I am going to discontinue it. Currently the only traffic on that list is spam and the forums seem to be the more convienent method to exchange AA information.

Hi, I think you may need to have the shoes "arced" meaning simply that you will need to sand or shave down the leading edges of the shoe to match the contour of the drum.

All "Guests" will be able to view and read topics, however to reply or post a new topic you will need to login or register to gain access to these features. Also, to prevent automated "BOTS" fr...

Re: AA rear races

I thought the race was a machined part of the axle housing. Is it removable? If so, how do you get it off? Hmmm, I must have misunderstood your question then, I thought you were refering to the bearing race that is inserted into the wheel. If you are talking about the axle itself where the bearing ...

You can get replacement bearings and races from MAC's or Synders, and probably several other A & AA Parts houses.

Mike, Do you have a part number for that seal.. I do not have a catalog for Bratton's or Mac's. available. My Brattons catalog would be in the barn which at the moment is under about a 10 foot snow drift.... I would like to get it on order so I have it to get started as soon as I dig a tunnel to th...

Where can I get the seal? Is this an easy thing to take care of or do I have to rip the whole rear axle apart to get to it? Thanks You can get the seals from Brattons or MAC's auto parts, you only need to remove the rear brake drum, which you would have to do if you were to replace the brake shoes....

Re: Rear end for 1931 AA

There is a oil seal that goes on the end of the axle tube. Attached is a picture of the rear axle with drum removed. I circled the oil seal in the picture. Hello, I am getting ready to start to take the rear wheels of and work on the brakes of my 1931 AA. My question is there is a small weap hole on...
