Re: FORD FRONT AXLE

I am retiring my old trailer. It is built on a ford front axle. I was told it was a Model AA truck axle. The onle clue I have is that the bearing cover say Ford in the old script and made in USA. They look like brass with cad plating. The cover is treaded to the axle with a 2-1/8-24 thread. Is the ...

Re: tire change

I saw a suggestion that you can wrap chain around the tire, split ring, and thru the holes in the rim and mount them safely. Thats what I intend to do. Of course, fasten the ends of the chain. Don't forget to use a clip on type air chuck that you can operate from a few feet away. Even when the bead...

Re: Changing Tires ?

Hello Gerald, Take care when removing the split ring, try not to gall or damage it when prying it out. You will need two "spoons" to remove the ring, probably the quickest and safest way to have your tires replaced is to take both the new tires and old tire/rims to the local les schwab or similar an...

AA Rear Bearings

Try Synders, talk to Don if you can. They had some bearings available for the 30/31 trucks.

The bearings I got were two piece for each side, not the one piece bearings.

Some of the AA stuff is not listed in the catalog, so you really should call and talk to Don.

Re: Rear hubs and bearings question 30/31

Hi Tim, if you are referring to the wheel hub, the earlier hubs had a pressed and pinned race for the bearing, later model hubs (the ones that are so hard to come by) do not have this arrangement. In one of my axles the bearings were either one piece, or two, it seems these days you can only get the...

Hi Tim, Keith sent me a message last week, here it is: Hello Mike, I just picked up the bearing races I had made up at the machine shop. They were made from tool steel and then hardened. NEED! front torque tube bearing race

I'm in dire need of the bearing race for the front of the torque tube. This race is spring steel like and snaps into place when seated.

Tom of Model A Works doesn't have them and it may be a while before any are made.

Re: 29 AA stakebed

I have a 29 with single wheels, do I need different running gear to run duals? I'm not familiar with the 28/29 trucks, but with the 30/31's you don't really need to do anything special except make sure you have the correct tire size for duals. 600:20 or 650:20 There are others in this forum that ha...

Zenith 3 carb wanted

Looking for a Zenith 3 carb for the late 31 indented firewall/tank configuration. Have a brand new Z1 (off the shelf MAC's rebuild) that I would sell to finance the Z3 (I hear they are pricy).

Threaded Shift tower wanted

Looking for the later style "threaded" shifter tower, this is the later 31 style and has fine threads and I think it only has the one trunion pin hole.

Also still looking for the carb mounted filter for a late 31 indented firewall/tank setup.

Re: Looking for the following AA parts

I'm looking for the rear axle bumper pads AA-5783 and the speedo driven gear AA-17271-H, this gear has 13 teeth and a square cable hole. I found the speedo gear from the "Tired Truck Resotrations" guy, $50 plus $4 shipping. I'm also looking for the late 31 indented firewall fuel shutoff valve, and ...

Rear Spring eye bushing

Trying to locate the proper bushing for the rear spring eye. I keep seeing AA-5791 which comes in two pieces and fits the shackles, but there is a one piece bushing that should go in there (at least that is what I peeled out.) http://aa-fords.com/forum/springbush.jpg This is a picture of the front e...
