Wheel Drum puller (sucess!)

Here is the puller I devised, worked really well when I put a larger center bolt in place. Just cranked that sucker down and gave it a few love taps with the sledge and she popped right off!

Wheel drum puller

Having trouble removing a set of drums from a AA rear axle. The brake adjusters are backed off all the way but no go. Heat and love taps with the 15# sledge isn't making an impression either. Was thinking of fabricating a hub puller, has anybody else done this? I was thinking of taking to 1/2" steel...

Re: Brakes

Mike, The progress is great. It looks like the truck is really coming along. I noticed the rear brakes on the passenger side of the truck. I'm getting ready to re-work my brakes. Is that original type brake lining material or the modern bonded material?? How thick is that lining?? Did you install t...

Latest progress report

Made some more headway last night on the truck, nothing major but lots of little bits and pieces (which hold the bigger bits and pieces together) :) http://aa-fords.com/ahooga/aa30progress2.jpg Still waiting for the moly grease "spray" for the springs to arrive before I can attach the rear springs a...

Re: Cadmium Plating

Hi all, I'm just about through getting my 4 speed transmission back in order. I need information on cadmium plating. Found out that the "transmission cap" at the base of the shifter is supposed to be plated. Is this an "electo-plating" operation? Or are the parts dipped in a solution and "painted"?...

Re: Dual High

Mike- For now I'd like to find a jackshaft assembly to put in there and keep the truck on the road until I can afford an overdrive or find a warford. Vince Falter just posted a blowup on AHOOGA of the unit. Tim. Tim, Here is a picture of the driveshaft I have for a 30 swb truck. http://www.aa-fords...

Picture of my SWB 30 AA

Found a "pre-disassembly" pictrure of my 30 SWB, this truck provided a lot of excellent condition parts for my current M30 LWB truck restoration.

Firewall removal and replacement question

I'm planning on transplanting my mid 30's firewall and gas tank with a late 31 indented firewall and gas tank. What is the best method for removing the firewall? Grind the rivets off the various braces, or drill the heads off? Also, when re-installing, is this a cold riveting operation or hot? I not...

Re: Dual High

Mike- I just have gone through my dual high unit due to leaking seals. No one that I could find knew anything about the units. The front and rear bearings are the same as far as I can tell, as are the seals. It's kind of odd that the front bearing is lubricated by the U-joint grease and the back be...

I'll look in my pile of wheels for the type you are looking for, shipping may be spendy though, looks like you are on the east coast?

I'm in the process of building an early 30 AA semi. Anyone out there have an AA semi? I have questions about trailer brakes. I have a fuel tanker semi trailer that I'm restoring for it. Hi, this forum works a little differently than Dales WWWboard, your best bet would be to start a new topic titled...

Re: I'll get the ball rolling. AA bearings

AA fans, I have recently gone through the process of finding some bearings for the rear wheel of my '28 truck, and found out that it is not as easy as when I ordered parts for my Model A cars. I will share what I have learned about sources, but I would like to know what other folks have found about...
