Re: FAQ for AA dummies?

Quick report - got the book, well, it's more of a flyer about "how great Ford was in 1930", not a technical type of book :-( Tons of interesting historical reprints with hardly any hands-on info. I should admit, they have a good point there, since Ford was the only one out of Big Three which did not...

Re: web site

Cannot get on the club wed site as of 1/15/2020. FMAATC and AAFords were combined some time ago to allow for easier maintenance. The site URL is https://aafords.com/. The FMAATC pages start with https://aafords.com/c/. Edwin, Please let us know if you still can not get to either of these two links?

Re: Wanted: Early '28 AA wheel lug nuts

Thanks, Kim. I've been looking for 2 years and have found no reproductions and only 4 originals. These were only used on AA trucks through mid '28, so not a lot out there. I'd give a good price to anyone that can round some up! Brian Did you find your lug nuts? I have 6 Left hand thread and 2 or 3 ...

Re: Wing nut for top bracket hold down

There is a factory photo of a 76B open cab on the club web sight. Everything seems to be black. I realize it's a different cab, but this is a TRUCK. Ford didn't go crazy over details such as this. My advise: unless there is a judging standard for this item , save your money and keep it black or unp...

Re: Top prop knob and windsheild knob

Both the top prop knob and windsheild knob come chrome plated for the 29 roadster cab. were they gloss black originally? Matt You likely mean the open cab. Ford never produced a roadster cab. Roadster Pickups were a home made vehicle (see attached). Page 9-4 of the RGJS says Top Prop knobs on stand...

Re: Radiator brace

My mistake. On closer inspection in better light I can see where someone has filled the bracket holes on the driver side, but why? Who knows. Those brackets are frequently pulled out of the panel. This normally resulted in a cracked panel. The panel would have to welded/ground back to solid metal, ...

My 1930 AA only has a radiator brace bracket on right (passenger) side. No holes or any sign that there ever was one on opposite side. The radiator has a bracket for two rods?
What about a picture? All gas tanks had two brackets.

Re: Hub Puller

Alternative to making an adapter plate. Use wheels which are no good and drill three extra holes to bolt on the puller.

Re: Rear axle gear sets

Would I be correct in assuming that the 5.14 and 6.6 gear sets would be interchangeable in the bevel gear rear ends? Just wondering. I have a spare axle with the 6.6 gears and was thinking if it is better shape I might try swapping gear sets. Those gear sets are interchangeable. A change in gear ra...

Re: AA truck Ride

Have you dissembled your springs, cleaned them up and lubricated them? They are plenty stiff and every little bit helps. Having a soft seat is a plus too. FYI - I believe the AA rear spring leaves have a slight hour-glass cross section like the front spring shown below. Consequently, only to outsid...
