AA vs BB transmissions?

Is there much of a difference between AA and BB transmissions? How do I tell them apart? What parts are interchangable? I have three to choose from. One is still in the truck. One is in my parts truck with a busted case. And the last one, I got real cheap. I think this one might be the BB. It came w...

6 or 12 volt?

I am just begining my project. I was going to start by rebuilding the generator and starter. Something to put on a shelf and say "it's restored and ready to go". I'm undecided if I want to go 6 or 12 volt. I plan to drive the truck frequently (day/ night, long/ short drives). I also plan to use impr...

Which one?

What book(s) have a brake down of all the parts and their part numbers? What other books are essential?

Help with engine number

I just received my newest Ford. This one is a 1930 AA Truck from the guys at Rufus Ranch. The engine serial number reads "RC6089I(star)". There is no star at the begining of the number. This truck is the 157" wheel base version. What is interesting, is that it has a pair of after-market helper sprin...

Yes, boom truck would be more accurate. I just used to calling it a tow truck. If I say boom truck, eveyone gets a blank stare and says, "what?"

Wire wheels were used on the early 28-29 AA trucks. The 30-31 trucks, which yours is, had the steel wheels.

WOW Matt. That sure is a thing of beauty. It would make Ol' Henry's day. I did kinda answer my own question. I I had some sheet metal powder coated recently on my 1948 Ford F-7. The tin was rusted and pitted. The parts came back looking like they had measles. The powder coat works great if the surfa...

Paint , Powder coat or POR15?

What is the prefered method for protecting the frame and undercarrage; Paint, Powdercoat or something like POR15?

What are the pluses and minuses of each?

I would think Powdercoat or POR15 would be more durable. I don't plan on being a 'pure-ist'.

AA Transmission with PTO?

I recently picked up an AA Transmission with a PTO drive. I got it cheap along with a 28-29 front bumper, generator, distributor, and model A front end. How much is the PTO transmission worth? What are some uses for the PTO? With the pieces and parts that I already have, I was thinking about a AA To...

New find - Tow truck

I found a Model AA tow truck in the weeds. I bought it for $300. After cleaning it up and doing some research, I found that most of it is from a 30-31 AA. The engine and what is left of the cab is from an earlier AA (s/n AA10025xx). That puts the engine at February 1929. The head is cracked (need a ...
