Re: 1931 Ford AA 9/23/11 Barrett Jackson Auction Result...$$

It would be great to see some detailed closeup pictures of the truck. I bet the express body is worth as much as the rest of the truck.
Does anyone have any info on how may 195-A and or, 195-B Express body's were made?

I think 32 fenders fit only 32. Cars, pickups and BB's are the same as long as you don't have the spare mounted on the fender.

Re: Avitar

I know I had to make mine very small when I did it quite a while ago. However lately I have noticed much larger pictures in the forums, and I was wondering if a larger file could be used for an avitar now.

Re: Follow up on lifting 28 cab

Chris: Sometimkes, NOT having a couple of friends around can be the most valueable means to doing anything. Lowtide did what he wanted to do, the way he wanted to do it. The steering column could have also been a determining factor in his choice of method. I don't know the big deal about 5 minutes....

Re: Cleaning Tank

Do yourself a really big favor and read up on removing rust from inside a tank using an electrode. There are plenty of sites to look at. This process is common in the motorcycle industry. I tried this on my 32 BB in the spring of 2010 and no problems so far. The BB I purchased in 2009 was in storag...

Re: AA KING PINS

I went to an old garage in our area, that is run by the son of the original owner. He lent me a reamer that was adjustable. I don't recall the name. He found it in a cabinet with other tools from the old days. I don't think there is an actual size that they should be reamed to. In the early 80's I w...

Harry,
Good pics! Do you have any info on the blue truck? To me the red rig looks very futuristic for 1936. If I had to guess, I would have said that it was early 50's. Thanks for posting them.

Re: original truck

The truck is great, and the fact that it has been in you're family since new makes it 1 in a million. You have the best of both worlds, a non-restored AA, and if you clean it up, it will look like it is only 10 years old. :D The mid drive train oil leak may be the dual high, (under drive). Thanks fo...

Re: 6 volt battery

Dave, When I was a youngster I was told not to drain and refill with new acid. But that was a long time ago. I think you should have a full charge on the battery before you do a load test. If the voltage is low try to charge it slowly at the lowest setting. If the battery doesn't hold a charge when ...

That's how our 32 is. Also there are flat washers, about 7/8" diameter between the screw heads and the insulation, and square nuts on the firewall side. Ya gotta love the square nuts.

Road Trip

It looks like I will be taking the old girl on a road trip. Are there any AA's, AAB's ,or BB's to see in either the
Bolivar Peninsula, TX or Tucson, AZ areas?

Re: 30-31 AA front spring perches

Carrotman08, I don't know if this will help you,but I had to cut the bottom part off of the one perch from our 32 AAB. We welded a hardened bolt on, and for the castle nut, used a nut and locking wedge from a late model big truck drive axle, and red Locktight. Around these parts its known as Pennsyl...

Edgy,
I have been through your section of MT a few times and think it is a beautiful section of the country. So I am looking forward to seeing some pictures of your truck in your local area.

Re: 1933 Budd Wheel manufacturing defect?

I think you have rust between the 2 sections of the rim. Rust is a powerful force, I have seen it push between two layers of modern dump truck double frames, that there was a 1/2 inch gap on the flanges. From the pictures they don't look unusable, as long as the rivets are in good shape, and the rim...
