Re: Torque Tube Grease Retainer (seal) Dimension?
My local bearing and seal suppliers have a seal that is .406 thick. I got it at Capeway Bearing in Plymouth Massachusetts. They always seem to find what I need for AA trucks. The.406 is not as thick as my original at.468, but I am not sure until I go to install it just how critical this dimension is...

Re: Torque Tube Grease Retainer (seal) Dimension?
I have the seal that came out of my early 1930 AA truck. (It should be a AA-4686 seal) There are no markings on the seal. I believe it is original equipment as the truck seems to have left the Ford factory and was then worked to death. When I disassembled the truck it appears that there was absolute...

AA brake pedal details compared to Model A
I have heard that the AA brake pedal is heavier than the Model A car. Does anyone have details on this to easily identify a AA pedal from the car?
( The AA clutch pedal is the same as the car?)

Thank you for the great information. It would be great to see photographs of Key pages in the 1931 Bud Wheel catalogue. Very interesting stuff

Dump Body for Sale
I have a Marion dump body for sale that was on a Ford AA truck. It has been out in the weather, but is in restorable condition. It is located in Scituate Massachusetts. I will provide photographs to interested parties. Must be picked-up in Scituate, Massachusetts. It weighs about 900 pounds. With my...

Re: Spring Bushings
My spring hangers were also badly worn with horrible flat spots just like the photograph. I ground the heads off of the rivets and removed the hangers. Welded them up and then re-machined them on a lathe. I still have to re-rivet them to the frame. I had material for bushings and made new ones to fi...

Re: Tires
Neil, as always thank you for your help. So, what is considered the most authentic 600x20 and 6.50 x20 tire that is sold today? I like the tread pattern on the BF Goodrich 600x20 tires because to me it looks like the tires in the period marketing photographs. However, they are rated slightly less th...

Re: Tires
Hello Neil, Thank You for your input. However, I am slightly confused. So, I have a grand total of six good wheels. I was planning on running on four tires using 600x20s I was also planning on mounting 600x20s on the other two wheels so that I could cradle one as a spare or bolt on all six and have ...

Re: Tires
Which tire is considered the “gold standard “ for a AA truck? Also, did Ford use 600x20 on all four or all six, or did Ford use 6.50x20 on rear axles as I see some people do?

Re: Original AA colors
I make custom colors starting with Rustoleum alkyd enamels for all types of projects. (You should see how well these paints can be utilized on wood projects!) They mix well because they are all of the same family. They are fuel and oil resistant, but not fuel proof. They can be thinned with Acetone ...

Re: AA Truck Wheels
One seller included the lock ring and one did not include the lock ring for the same price. I didn’t study the quality of the lock rings that much. In general they looked OK. I am not sure how they would look cad plated.

Re: AA Truck Wheels
Hello Neil, I am absolutely astonished at the current prices. I saw two types of AA wheels, both were Budd style with 5 cut-outs/slots. Some were 1930 wheels with the two uninterrupted intersecting planes, and some were the 1931 wheels with the “bump”, re-enforcing bead. They were all hard priced, u...

Re: Original AA colors
As Bob C states, those are the colors for AAs that I have as information in an antique Ford repaint manual. However, I have heard that fleet trucks could be any color known to man, and that includes wheel colors. I often wonder how many contemporary restorers scratch their heads regarding the paint ...
