Re: "B" starter
Model A parts suppliers sell new balanced crankshafts for Model As. (Expensive) Model B crankshafts have larger bearings and possibly other differences. That's all I know.

Re: "B" starter
The optional original factory Model A "police" high compression head has a big "B" on it, just to show it is not a regular "A" head. I have one on my '31 roadster. Since "B" was already being used, Ford put a big "C" on all Model B engine heads, even...

Re: "B" starter
I'm not sure what you mean by "housings". Clutch housings? ~ No.
I don't know much about possible interchange of these starters, it was just a suggestion you could explore if you know anyone with an "N" tractor (1939 - 1952). I had one until recently but sold it.

Re: WANTED: 1928 Model AA Lug Nuts
I do have one in my collection of Model A & AA cranks. It's the only one I've ever come across, I would not want to break up the collection, not yet anyway. I'll let you know if I decide to sell it, I'm sure you would give it a good home.

Re: rust free mystery windshield frame?
OK, so if you are not concerned about originality and you want a vacuum wiper motor on your '28-29 AA instead of a hand wiper, you could install an A windshield frame on the AA with a vacuum motor. A & AA truck cabs are the same so the windshield frames are the same except for the holes for the ...

Re: "B" starter
Yes I mean flathead V8 starter, I'm pretty sure it will work on a B engine. Ford tractor starters 9n-2n-8n may also work, they use a separate solenoid.

Re: rust free mystery windshield frame?
Being as this thread is about '28/'29 windshields that is what I am talking about.[/quote]
Then you have me confused because you mentioned wiper "motor" and the Standards say all '28-29 commercial vehicles used a hand operated wiper until April 1930. (p. 20-1)

Re: "B" starter
I used to have a '33 Model B truck. The starter worked by stepping on a floor button similar to Model A. If your truck had a button controlled starter it probably had a later model starter in it. Should be easy to find one of those.

You say you have overdrive in your AA, what kind is that? Do you also have the high speed rear end?

Re: rust free mystery windshield frame?
Chris, which year trucks do you mean, and what type wiper motor?
In 1930-31 A's and AA's did use the same vacuum wiper motor.

Re: 6 volt vs 12 volt system
All my Model A's are still 6 volt and since I keep them properly tuned up, they all start immediately. When you start modernizing a Model A where do you stop? Do you want a Model A or a newer model car/truck?

Re: tire pressure
I have found that sometimes if the demountable rim is not seating exactly right, you can put some air in the tire, say 5 or 10 pounds, and then beat on the rim with a rubber or wooden mallet (which will not bang it up) and get it to seat properly. DO NOT fully air up a tire if the demountable rim is...
