Re: Carburator Repair

If you are dooing any carb work, then you'll really appreciate this site. search for: > Model-A.org< be sure to get the carb tap from Bratton's if you're going to do any work on the jet threads. It's a French metric, and is the correct tap to use. You will want to build a complete carb work kit, and...

I understand that they're Daton wheels, and that set-up of duals for the '29 style (worm drive) were used in Canada. I know where there is a set-up like this and have been trying to contact the owner for some time. The wholde thing is there, but in very poor condition. I have hopes of using it on a ...

Never tried it, but always thought that one could drill some holes in the drum at strategic locations, and then with a punch- drive the shoes inward and away from the drum surface. I think I would at least try that before cutting the drum. I had a stuck wheel on a worm drive rear, and got it to turn...

Hi Mark: If you're working on a "Doodlebug" you might enjoy some improvising- I have a few T-8 shifters with excessive wear at the lever ball. Much of the stuff on homebuilts was worn out twice prior to being used for work, and had to be pounded to fit and painted to match (if there was an...

Everything (from the photos) points to an early '30, except for as you say- the threaded gas and radiator caps. Could the truck have been built in Canada- thus the annomally with the caps...? It would be a very good idea to get involved with a Model A club or chapter in you area. Like anything worth...

Are you sure the truck isn't an early 1930? Lots of details in the photos seem to indicate a prior to June cab on a '30 chassis. Great project- good luck.

Many thanks to both Mr. Moore and Mr. Wilson: This latest aquisition is a combination of components, most likely all worn out prior to assembly as a doodlebug. The information and instructions provided will be very valueable to myself and others in our club. Although the passenger side wheel/drum is...

Hi Brady: Thats a very interesting question... In spite of our combined knowledge over the many years we just can't seem to understand why you don't give up on trying to find out about this junk. We only care about the restored AA trucks for the judging standards. The rear axle gear case you refer t...

You must be asking about getting the studs out of the block. There are a few recommended ways, and you should do an archives search on the Fordbarn site and also the Model A Ford Message Board. Tapping, heating, soaking, back & forth turing with the stud removal tool: these are some of the ways ...

Early Worm Drive ID.

Hi Neil and all you AA cognoscente: I just brought home a doodlebug with the 20' steel spoke wheels, an underdrive box, and worm drive rear. In trying to identify the rear gear ratio, I find no A or B marking on the case or housings at all. There is an upside down TT marking on the passenger side to...

AA Four Speed Trans ?

I have a '48 (?) 4 speed, with the e brake at the rear. Would this gear box bolt up to the AA clutch housing, and work OK for the clutch assy and the pilot bearing areas? It isn't intended to be a restoration or driver- just a doodlebug... Thanks for any and all assistance, FB

I have 7 or 8 of the T-8 four speeds, and I'd like to find some tech literature on rebuilding. I have the Shilds AA book, but is there anything else out there more detailed and indepth ?
