Re: REAMS FOR BUSHINGS
Russ, if you're going to use those reamers to ream your king pin bushings, you'll also need a king pin reamer pilot to make sure the bushings are reamed in-line with each other. Perform a Google search for "King Pin Reamer Pilot", then click on the etoolcart link.

Matt, Thank you for posting the photos. They are great. I will spend hours checking them out. I hope you have more to post. I will enjoy, Pat Although they are not all old truck photos, I did post more pictures of antique cars, trucks and tractors on my site at: http://www.smokypond.com/gallery/pic...

Pat,
Unfortunately, I got caught with my batteries down during that show, so no other photos are available. However, I will be posting photos from 5 or 6 classic car shows over the next week or so.
Happy to hear you're enjoying them!
Matt

... to start working on our trucks again. I posted more than 145 photos (see link below) that I took at the 2005 American Truck Historical Society National Convention and Antique Truck Show held June 2-4, 2005 at Kruse Auction Park in Auburn, Indiana (16 miles north of Fort Wayne). I had completely ...

Re: u bolt plate job
Eric, The spreadsheet that I developed for plating is only 735 KB in size, so it will fit on any size disc. But it does require that you have Microsoft Excel 97 or later installed on your PC.

Re: u bolt plate job
Eric, I too use only distilled water. Can I ask what you're going to use to get the raven finish? I'd be interested in hearing how that works out for you.

Re: u bolt plate job
Eric, I limit my use of sodium hydroxide as much as possible, exactly for the reasons that you mention. I generally go right from the glass-bead blast to plating. If I need a shinier finish than what the glass-bead provides, I wire wheel then clean with denatured alcohol or lacquer thinner. The only...

Re: u bolt plate job
Eric, I've had my plating system setup for nearly 5 years now and I've probably plated nearly a thousand pounds of parts, but I really don't have much of a corrosion or rust issue. Nail heads in the area still bright. Do you do anything more than just zinc plating? Chrome plating? Also, for zinc pla...

Re: u bolt plate job
Bob, I use a system that I originally purchased from Caswell Inc,. called Copy CAD ( http://www.caswellplating.com/kits/zinc.htm ). It is a conventional electroplating system. It worked fine right out of the box so to speak, but I quickly discovered the shortcomings of the included power-supply and ...

Re: spring opinion
I find that my springs do in fact flex when weight is applied to the rear of the frame (either by standing on it and jumping up and down, or pushing down off the garage ceiling). I disassembled the springs, completely stripped and cleaned each leaf, beveled the bottom edges of both ends of each leaf...

I'm located about an hour north of Detroit in Oakland Township, Michigan.
Besides my early '30 131-1/2" AA, I also have a 1961 Allis-Chalmers H3 Dozer-Crawler (pictures on my website).
