Re: 1930/1931 Rear Spare Carrier Wanted For 157 WB

Eric, Well I'll be darned! I could have left mine that shiny? I originally had mine finished in a black powder-coat that had 85% reflectivity. I thought it was too shiny so I stripped it. That was extremely costly. Yours is certainly looking good Eric. You're probably going to get yours finished bef...

Re: Cartouche Upholstery Kit 82B Cab

I can state that the LeBaron Bonney 82-A kit is incorrect as well. The seam is not far enough down around the sides. And yes, it was a bear to get the cover on. I had to pre-compress the springs with nylon wire ties. One thing that I did notice is that both Bratton's and Snyder's catalogs show 2 dif...

Great pictures there Toolhawk!

I had planned since last year to attend the Old Car Festival. Unfortunately, work got in the way of pleasure once again.

Re: 1929 popcorn photos

Which way do you think you need to go with the rear axle ratio? Do you think it's too slow, or are you lacking power in high gear?

Do you have a picture of the rear axle housing?

Re: STANDRIVE FIND AND PICS !!!

Nice find!

You're going to have to write a book one day, because there's little doubt that you'll be one of the few StanDrive experts out there.

Re: Anyone in Michigan? going to any local shows (southeast Mi)

I'll be attending my usual: The 45th Annual Carnival of Cars at the old Packard proving grounds in Shelby Township on June 8th, and the Old Car Festival at Greenfield Village, September 6 and 7.

Unfortunately, my truck will not be in attendance with me (won't be ready).

Re: Famous Last Words

Vicky, When asembling the brakes, be sure to take into consideration the fact that the brake actuating lever is pointed up after assembly. This means of course that the right and left brake actuators rotate in opposite directions when actuated by the pedal. When viewing the brake assembly from the d...

Re: Front spring shackles?

Same thing I found with the repro shackles I bought last year. After installing one bushing in the spring eyelet, I found it to be .035" oversize! These bushings were bright zinc plated. I talked to the supplier about it, and he sent me just the bushings. These were the same ones you'd get from...

Mike,

2.42" to 2.44"? .02" will be one heck of a press fit!

Have you tried installing them in the housing yet?

Regarding checking the condition of the u-joints, the one in the picture is shot! To check one that isn't so visibly worn out, first lubricate the joint with motor oil, then grab both splined ends and twist back and forth. You shouldn't feel any slop between the two halves in the twisting direction ...

Use PhotoShop to mock-up potential changes

I use Adobe PhotoShop to alter original digital photos of my truck in order to see what it would look like in a different color, with or without chrome radiator shell and head lights, etc., even different body styles. See http://www.smokypond.com/gallery/pictures/1930+Ford+AA/all_3_versions/ Before ...
