Hey Spectria,
I didn't particularly like the way the modifications to the 1st block turned out so I made a new one up that has all the meat left on the bone possible. I placed the cut out piece next to it. The top block is what it started out as. Hope this helps.

Re: original truck
Do you think that the seats are original? I'd sure be interested in some pictures of them if they are.

Re: Lifted the cab off today
I removed the brake handle in order to get the block into place. I was then able to trace the opening for the brake handle on the block and with a bit of work on the band saw I got it to fit.

Re: Lifted the cab off today
That was my thought too. The blocks that I got were mirror images of each other and it looks like the brake handle is smack dab in the middle of the narrowest part of the block. I'll give it another go tomorrow.

Lifted the cab off today
In the begining I thought that I wouldn't have to get to the point of lifting off the cab but one thing leads to another and since the body blocks were bad it had to be done. The benefit though is I was able to get to the serial number on the frame and see that the engine is original to the truck co...

Re: 1929 front u-joint needed
1crosscut, If a stock A U Joint will fit, I have one that appears to be NOS. If interested, I will send pics via e-mail. It is for a car, and is much smaller than the one I needed for my AA with the hi-lo set-up. Truknut 8) Truknut, I just got one comming my way this morning. Looks to be a NOS or v...

Re: The last part to break.
Thanks for checking. Doesn't look like it will work though. I think that starting around 1930 they were changed. Mine is a 3 speed with the six splined shafts. I put an ad on Ford Barn and had a gent from Montana drop me an email me that he said he might have a N.O.S. one. He was out of town and wil...

Careful, this old rusty iron stuff can be pretty addictive. Once you start you may not be able to stop. Do you have any pictures of the entire truck?

Re: 1929 front u-joint needed
Neil - good news that it is the same as the Model A. I see that Bert's has one in their catalog. Has anyone used the reproduction u joints and if so what are your thoughts on them? Or would it be best to try to find a good used one? Gunmetal - suprisingly everything else in that area seems to have e...

1929 front u-joint needed
Seems my front u-joint for my 29 AA has turned the drive shaft for the last time. If anyone has an extra they would be willing to part with I would appreciate it.

The last part to break.
I've restored several tractors in the past and this is my 1st time doing a restoration of a "road vehicle". It's been my experience that a farmer never just parks a tractor because they don't need it anymore. There is always something that broke that was the last straw and off it went be p...

I'll second the sharp wack suggestion. Put the pressure to it and give it some wacks.

Re: Tough Drum Blues
Does the drum turn after you start applying pressure? I'm thinking that if it stops turning there may be a ridge worn into the drum that the edge of the brake shoe is catching on. Make sure that the brake are adjusted all the way in. Mine was catching on a ridge and I was able to get it off by heati...

Thanks for the information. I got them aired up today. The tire shop was kind enough to do it for no charge.
